How did Barry Keoghan get snatched away like that? Plastic surgeons reveal cosmetic treatments that could explain his chiselled transformation

Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan’s dramatic change in appearance has not gone unnoticed, with plastic surgeons revealing the series of subtle treatments that could explain his increasingly ‘swept away’ appearance.

The 31-year-old, who will now join the cast of the sequel to Netflix’s Peaky Blinders film, is known for his enviably chiseled jaw and cheekbones.

However, photos taken less than five years ago show a rounder, less defined face shape.

Aesthetic experts have speculated that the Dublin native has likely undergone a series of procedures including cheek fat removal, Botox and jawline filling.

However, they also say that simple weight loss could also have made the change worse.

Although the Dubliner has neither confirmed nor denied undergoing cosmetic treatments, the plastic surgeon says Dr. Fuat Yuksel suspects that he has had Botox and filler injections.

“If you look at Barry’s face when he was younger, there appear to be hints of fine lines around the outer corners of his eyes,” says Dr. Yuksel, who works at London clinic for cosmetic treatments Longevita and has more than 30 years of experience in the field.

‘But when I look at it now, everything has been smoothed out, which makes me think he’s had Botox for crow’s feet.

“He may also get anti-wrinkle injections in his forehead as it looks very wrinkle-free at the moment.”

Although the Dubliner (pictured in 2023) has neither confirmed nor denied that he has undergone plastic surgery or other cosmetic treatments, there is a good chance the actor will get Botox and fillers.

Doctors and social media users have also suggested that the actor, pictured here in 2019, may have had filler which adds volume to the face and can be used to define the chin and jaw area, creating a more defined jawline.

He also draws attention to the jawline, claiming that it now has a “perfect and defined shape, which was not the case five years ago.”

‘Previously, the edges of the jawline were not as sharp or projected, in fact, they felt softer and rounder, reminiscent of the use of dermal fillers,’ he said.

Botulinum toxin (or Botox) works by relaxing the muscles in the face and smoothing lines and wrinkles.

But when it is injected into the masseter muscle – a rectangular muscle in the face used for chewing – the jaw appears slimmer.

Meanwhile, filler adds volume to the face and can be used to create defined lines around the chin and jawline, creating a sharper jawline.

She also suggested that Botox has caused his eyebrows to lose their ‘natural arch’ and added that he may have had some ‘refinement to the tip of his nose’.

This has given Keoghan ‘a more angular and masculine appearance’.
