The local population in a leaf -rich English village has launched a last crowdfunder to increase the '£ 10 million' needed to save one of the last green spaces in their area.

Dorpelingen in Hazlemere and nearby Holmer Green, in Buckinghamshire, have been merged to combat developers – who have already started digging the country around the field in question, called Ralee Farm, which used to be Green Belt.

Hawridge Strategic Land Limited received permission from Buckinghamshire Council in August 2024 to put 87 houses on the site.

Hawridge has now offered the site with four hectares for sale. Bids must be made on February 14 by noon, but residents hope that their hard work will bear fruit.

Speaking with MailOnline, people who live next to the site said they would never have bought their houses if they knew that the Council Huisbouwers would have the countryside around them buy.

They said their houses were devalued by £ 100,000 and those adjacent developments had already destroyed animals in the wild.

Now they try to raise enough money to save the last snack of land of real estate developers.

Local mother of three Susan Jamson, 74, said: 'This is disgusting. They are green fields and horses. The prices of all our properties have fallen.

“We bought the house because Green Belt would never be built. We wouldn't have bought it [if we had known this would happen].

'We understand that they need houses, but first of all they have to build on Brownfield.

“If they start building on Greenbelt, don't put a barracks in army style against our fence.”

She said that the council reduced the land of Greenbelt in 2019.

Now they are confronted with a pressure on local services while the villages of Hazlemere and Holmer Green are getting closer.

She added: 'Both locations are in Hazlemere, but to go on a tralee farm, you have to go through Holmer Green.

“Holmer Green is a separate village and that is the idea of green belt that the urban proliferation stops.”

When she realized that the country was for the taking, she said the community said: “Wow, we wonder if we can buy it. '

Susan's neighbor Penny Harris, 56, lives down a few doors. Her garden terrace overlooks the next field along Ralee Farm.

Real estate developer Bellway Homes has already started digging in this area.

Instead of the sloping green hills of the Buckinghamshire countryside, her view is now one of abandonment and destruction.

She told MailOnline: “This was a field with trees on it. It was beautiful.

“That's why we bought this place. It didn't have much of a garden, but we thought: “Well, it's nice to look up”.

“I searched on the land and it came back and said that nothing would be built.

'I would have just moved here [when it started]. '

Now the beautiful green field next to her house has been excavated in hills of land and huge, ugly pits.

Last year there was a poisonous fire that burned for about a month and then 'in decades', her neighbors flooded.

They blamed the development, which has torn away many of the trees and animals in the area in the area.

Penny said that Bellway Homes 'started digging right outside next to my window, four feet distance when my grandson played outside'.

She told her what was most confused to her was that the roads were so bad that traffic would be impossible in the morning.

Another of her neighbors added: 'The properties will be in Hazlemere, but they will use Holmer Green's facilities.

'Everything is bursting with the seams. People fear that there will be all these new houses and there will be no schools or traffic provisions.

'People have to live somewhere, but it is the pure density that people cross about.

“They go up and down on the back of their gardens.”

Independent Buckinghamshire -Councilor Ed Gemmell, 57, has taken the lead when organizing the group trying to buy RRALEE Farm to preserve one of the last remaining green spaces in the area.

He told MailOnline: “It's terrible. We are scared. That's why we try to buy it.

'They throw the ex-green belt off and do not even put in what people want locally.

“The locals said they don't want larger and larger houses, they want houses to shrink.

'We know that we are against it in terms of time and money.

“The likely price is £ 10 million. That is a lot of money for a community group to put together in a short time, but we will try.

'That means finding investors with high power that want to support us, possibly more environmentally friendly developers.

'Let's see if we can come in, buy and keep the green space.

“If we have to build on it, let's build something that fits more with the ambitions of the local community and the future that comes on the path.”

Hawridge Land, which owns Ralee Farm, indicated that it would not sell to residents, even if they find enough money.

The company said: 'We are looking for a delivery partner; They have no money and no track record of delivering a site of this scale and complexity. '

It added: 'It is the upper hand that a local Nimby group that has previously campaigned against this development without track record, no financial support and no development expertise tries to derail a much-needed housing scheme under the guise of a speculative purchase bid.

“This is not a serious proposition; It is a shameful attempt to hinder a fully approved development that will bring the local people real benefits to a desperate need for housing.

'Ralee Farm is a strategically important site that has received a building permit for 87 new houses, with 48 percent designated as affordable homes.

'In a time of serious housing shortages, this development offers an important chance of offering high -quality houses in addition to essential infrastructure contributions.

'Without credible investments and the necessary development expertise, the only outcome of the actions of this group would be unnecessary delays and will not continue to meet local housing needs.

'Hawridge Land is actively working on our Prime advisers, with serious, well -funded delivery partners who have the option and dedication to work with us to blossom this schedule.

“Our focus remains on delivering houses for the locals.”

A spokesperson for Bellway Homes said: 'Bellway looks forward to supplying a series of houses that will rely on first buyers, families and professionals who work in the area or work on Maidhead, Heathrow and London.

“The development is delivered in accordance with the approved planning state.”

Buckinghamshire Council did not respond to a request for comments.
