An Australian tourist is pinned to the ground at a Thai airport after being told he can’t have any more drinks

Shocking footage has emerged of a drunk Australian tourist being wrestled to the ground at a Thai airport by armed police.

That was the Australian waiting for his flight home from Phuket, Thailand, on September 22, when he became increasingly unruly after a waitress refused to serve him any more alcohol at an airport bar.

The man, who was wearing shorts and a T-shirt, then staggered out of the bar and began antagonizing nearby passengers waiting for their flights.

Several police officers and airport staff approached the man and tried to calm him down, but he only became more uncontrollable.

Shocking video showed the man being knocked to the ground by police officers, with one hitting the Australian repeatedly with a baton.

Another Australian who captured the footage said the man appeared “very drunk.”

“I was really disappointed to see Australians, or anyone for that matter, behaving like that,” the witness said.

“He was extremely drunk at the bar, got cut off and then started fighting whoever was watching him that much.”

The other traveler said the man was eventually stopped “held in the bathroom hallway where he just tormented everyone who walked by.”

“As he sat on the bench in handcuffs, he started attacking anyone who made eye contact,” the witness said.

‘I told him, ‘You’re a flop and a disgrace.’ He didn’t like that.’

Airport staff confirmed that the tourist was held in an airport cell while he sobered up.

As a result, he missed his flight and had to rebook another plane.

A spokesman for Phuket International Airport said the situation had been resolved.

“The holidaymaker in the video was very drunk and aggressive,” the spokesperson said.

“The police captured him at Gate 11. He was held until he sobered up, after which the situation was resolved.”
