Amazon Prime plans

Amazon offers four ways to subscribe to Prime, but two of them have qualifications. Here’s the breakdown.

  • Prime monthly: $15 per month – 30 day free trial
  • Great annual: $139 per year – 30 day free trial
  • First access: $7 per month – 30 day free trial
  • First student: $7.49 per month – first six months free

The important thing to note is that Amazon does offer a 30-day free trial for new members. You can cancel your membership without being charged as long as you close your membership before your first payment. If you have previously been an Amazon Prime member, you cannot get a free trial with the same account.

Prime Access and Prime Student are discounted plans and you must qualify to participate. Those who qualify for certain government assistance programs can sign up for Prime Access, and to no one’s surprise, only students can sign up for Prime Student.

With the standard Prime plans you have the choice of going monthly or annually, with the latter saving you just over $40 per year over the monthly plan.
