Horizon Online Game is reportedly Guerrilla Games’ next big project
Guerrilla Games is gearing up to launch Lego Horizon Adventures, a Lego-themed remake of Horizon Zero Dawn. The action-adventure spin-off title will be released on November 14 on PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch. The studio will also launch Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered later this month. But it could be a lot longer before we get a main Horizon title. Guerrilla Games’ next big project is reportedly an online multiplayer Horizon title.
Guerrilla Games’ next Horizon game
In a recent podcast appearance, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier said that the studio will not be working on the single-player follow-up to 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West as their next major release. “Horizon online is their next project, not what the third single player game looks like. So that could be a ways off,” Schreier said on the channel last episode from the Spawn Wave podcast that streamed on Sunday. “A lot of people are working on that online project,” he added.
In 2022, Guerrilla Games had confirmed they were working on an online Horizon game when they announced they were hiring for multiple projects in development. “A new internal team is developing a separate online project set in the Horizon universe,” the studio had said in a press release message on X detailing open positions at the company. “With a new cast of characters and a unique stylized look, friends can explore the majestic wilderness of Horizon together.”
Sony and its first-party studios have taken a significant step forward in live services, but the results have been mixed. While Helldivers 2 was a huge hit, Sony’s online hero shooter Concord was dead on arrival and taken offline within two weeks of launch. Naughty Dog, one of Sony’s most prestigious first-party studios, also canceled its planned multiplayer title set in The Last of Us universe to focus on its next single-player project.
However, the latest information from Schreier indicates that the Horizon online title is still in the works and will be Guerrilla’s next big release, despite no recent update from Sony and the studio. The PlayStation parent also hasn’t announced a launch timeline for the game.
Last month, Guerrilla confirmed at Sony’s State of Play showcase that it was remastering Horizon Zero Dawn for PS5 and PC, bringing the game’s graphics up to the level of the sequel. Horizon Zerto Dawn Remastered will be released on October 31 for PS5 and PC.
