I made a fall coat that Stacey Solomon would be proud of using Dunelm purchases
A DIY SAVVY homeowner is impressed with her tutorial for making a striking fall mantel.
Casa Lawson shared how ‘cosy’ her home looked after creating the floral decor.
House (@casalawson) has amassed nearly 87,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares home decor inspiration.
She went viral on the social media app when she shared how she embraced the season at her home.
She showed off a beautiful arrangement of artificial flowers, strategically placed next to a mirror hanging above her fireplace.
“I made the structure with chicken wire,” she said.
“I made a cylinder tied together with tire wraps and then attached it to the wall with a clear command hook.
“Once I did this, I started building my foundation.”
Casa used the longest green leaf to build an L shape adjacent to the mirror.
Once she was happy, she started adding colorful flowers and berry sticks while focusing on strengthening the base.
“I then went in with the larger floral items like the hydrangeas,” she said.
“After every few stems I would take a step back to see how it looked and see if I was happy with the shape.”
Images of the end result show flowers ranging from mustard yellow, dark purple to pastel pink, artistically arranged.
Casa bought all the artificial flowers from Dunelm, where prices start from just £1.
“I am absolutely over the moon, it has made the house so cozy and I absolutely love it,” she said.
Thousands of viewers liked the video and said they would like to recreate the autumn mantle in their own homes.
“Fantastic, well done!!!” one person commented.
“That’s really beautiful, great color choice,” wrote another.
“So beautiful, how much did the flowers cost if you don’t mind sharing,” chimed in a third.
“Thanks! I already had some stems, but if I bought them all new it would cost around £120-£150 I think,” Casa replied.
Decorating tips for autumn
Head of Design at online furniture store MADE, Ali Edwards, has recommended using natural and warm earth tones to ‘exude a warm, cozy feeling’.
However, there’s no need to spend on expensive paint and new furniture for a fall feel.
Aldi shoppers have added a “cute and cozy vibe” to their homes with dupes of Le Creuset’s pumpkin dishes, as well as pumpkin pillows and thresholds.
Ceramic candles for decorating mantles all season long cost just $3.99 each at the grocery store.
The DIY decor follows the previous trend of making autumn wreaths using fake flowers and leaves.
A member of the Extreme Couponing and Bargain UK Facebook group revealed that they used a willow ring from Hobbycraft with artificial flowers from eBay to get the look they wanted.
Pumpkins purchased from the Pound Shop added to the seasonal look, with shades of orange, yellow and red.
They decided to get creative after struggling to find a ready-made fall wreath they liked on Amazon.
