I’m an interior designer – WAGs should follow my ‘kissing’ tip
Buying curtains seems like a relatively simple task.
But according to one interior designer, there’s a crucial mistake WAGs make – and they need to heed her ‘kissing’ tip straight away.
When the guru, Jojo, started her career, every footballer’s home at the time had the signature WAG aesthetic: velvet galore and studded headboards in the bedroom.
But there was one ‘crazy’ curtain trend that interior professionals could not get started with: ‘pooling’.
The guru said, “They would literally drape and there would be some kind of extra fabric on the floor.
”And I always thought it was such strange things to do, for example, cleaning.
“My cats would pee on it,” she chuckled a recent episode on the Ins and Outs podcast.
To avoid constant cleaning and washing of the material, Jojo recommended ditching the pooling method and trying her kissing look instead.
This is ”where your curtains should kiss the floor,” she explained.
”That means that they are not lying on the ground, but only touching each other slightly.
“Imagine two lips kissing each other, that’s how you want it.”
Because most curtains, especially linen, will fall lower over time, Jojo also recommended that indoor fans hang them slightly above the floor – and let gravity do the work.
“Just that silence before you go in for that kiss.”
If you’re thinking of buying new curtains to brighten up your home this year, the pro advised saying you just want them to ”kiss the floor” – no more ”pooling” WAGs.
Trends that interior designers hate
If you want to make your home look glamorous, here are the trends that interior designers can’t resist.
NO YELLOW: According to Bilal Rehman, yellow paint in a bedroom is a big no.
He said: “If you want everyone to know you’re a horse girl, then yellow is perfect for you.”
UNSUBSCRIBE: Kelly Hoppen shared her honest thoughts on Live, Love, Laugh signs.
The interior design professional explained: “Another negative of mine: Live, Laugh, Love – those kind of wooden things that are on bookshelves and floating shelves, that’s like 10, 12, 15 years ago.”
NO GRAY YES: Julie Provenzano explained that gray interiors are overdone.
She emphasized, “We took something good and we exaggerated it so much that it now feels copy-pasted and basic.”
