Russia to host BRICS summit this year, PM Modi expected to attend | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Russia is set to the Brics top in October of this year in Kazanwith expectations growing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate.
During Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to Moscow, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov stressed the importance of the visit in terms of addressing the global and regional issuesand strengthening bilateral ties.
Ambassador Alipov spoke about the scope of Indo-Russian relations, mentioning ongoing and future cooperation in sectors such as oil and gas, defence and culture.
“We welcomed the Prime Minister to Russia. This visit is important in terms of discussing global affairs and regional affairs, especially in terms of reviewing bilateral relations, which are very comprehensive,” Ambassador Alipov said. He expressed optimism about the upcoming BRICS summit and reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to continuing the annual exchange of summits, a tradition that has been maintained for the past two decades.
“We expect the prime minister to come to the Brics summit as well,” Ambassador Alipov added.
