Thousands of migrants who work illegally in nail bars, car washes and restaurants have been arrested as part of the government's efforts to sharpen the British border protection.
Home Office officials said that 609 arrests of illegal employees were made last month, the highest since the figures were collected in 2019.
There were also 828 raids at workplaces suspected of being hired illegally in January, an increase of 556 in the same month last year and from 171 in January 2019.
The government has started releasing details of the raids in the aftermath of polls showing that Labor would lose more seats to the reform than the conservatives.
The Red Wall Group of around 40 Labor MPs has called on its ministers to send a stronger message about immigration to distract the election threat.

Gangs involved in human trafficking have encouraged illegal migration by giving migrants 'false promises' about their ability to work here, they added.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: 'The immigration rules must be respected and maintained.
'For far too long, employers have been able to accept and exploit illegal migrants and have been able to arrive too many people and work illegally without enforcement action ever.
'This not only creates a dangerous draw for people to risk their lives by crossing the channel in a small boat, but it results in the abuse of vulnerable people, the immigration system and our economy.
“That is why, as part of our plan for change, we encourage enforcement to register levels in addition to heavy new legislation to break the criminal gangs.”
A raid in Vape stores in Cheshire led to ten immigration arrests and two criminal arrests for counterfeit documents, said a home office spokesperson.
A visit to an Indian restaurant in Humberside led to seven arrests and four arrests. And one for a supermarket warehouse in South Londs resulted in six arrests and four people who were held.
In Wales and the west of England, the number of arrests in January doubled more than a year earlier, from 45 to 101.

A social media campaign from the government that discourages people to make the journey to the UK was launched in December in Vietnam and Albania in January.
The advertisements emphasize stories from migrants who illegally entered the UK “only about debts, exploitation and a life far from what they were promised,” said the home office.
The drive is because the border protection of the government, the asylum and the immigration account in the Lower House in the second reading are being debated in the Lower House.
It is intended to introduce a series of new violations and to prevent terrorist style powers to resolve people smugglers who bring migrants across the English channel.
The measures are expected to be taken into force as soon as possible once the legislation has been approved by MPs and gentlemen, it will be assumed to be this year.
Among the plans, people who sell and handle boat parts that are suspected of being used in channel transitions, up to 14 years in prison, while everyone at sea can get a five -year prison sentence during the dangerous journeys that endanger a different life.
In the meantime, police and enforcement agencies would be handed over, including to seize and search electronic devices before an arrest, if they suspect that they contain information about organized immigration crime.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer previously promised to treat people smugglers as 'terrorists' in an attempt to curb channel transitions, but ministers have stopped setting a target when reducing the number of arrivals via the smuggeler route.

But the human rights group Liberty has warned that the bill sets a “dangerous precedent” in the introduction of terrorist powers for offenses that are not terrorism, while there are insufficient guarantees to protect people against “unnecessary” persecuted “unnecessary.”
In the meantime, the International Rescue Committee UK has welcomed the government's dedication to reform the ash system, but is insisting on safe routes to the UK to be determined for those who flee and prosecution.
IRC Advocacy Director Denisa Delic added: “Without a doubt safe alternatives for people in need, vulnerable people will continue to be forced into the hands of smugglers and even more dangerous routes as their only option for the search for protection.”
According to the bill, the safety of the Rwanda Act will be deleted to formally dump the Multimillion pound deal to send migrants to the East African state, while parts of the illegal migration law are also withdrawn.
The ministers are stored for operational reasons measures of the law, including a limit about the number of people arriving under safe and legal routes and time periods migrants can be retained.
Law Society of England and Wales President Richard Atkinson has urged the account to continue by withdrawing all parts of the illegal migration law and becoming for the 'harmful' nationality and boundaries, while warning about more resources for Immigration legal advice.
“Every new legislation will fail, unless there are sufficient lawyers for immigration available and we urge the government to allocate sufficient resources as guidance for the bill,” he said.
The conservatives said they had made a change in the bill in an attempt to include their own immigration proposals: to double how long it takes before migrants have to stay leave for an indefinite period and then waits five years instead of one before they could Request for an application for citizenship.
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: “This is a weak bill that the boats will not stop.
'As the National Crime Agency said, an effective deterrence is needed to do that, what Labor has demolished. Shockingly, the bill also restores the ability of an illegal migrant to claim indefinitely to stay. '
A spokesperson for Labor said: 'Instead of supporting the Labor law, the tories were released with a chaotic mix of warmed ideas and sloppy policy. They have no credibility – they supervised rising small boats transitions and register high net migration.
'This Labor government has a serious plan to break the human-known gangs with powers in terrorist style, giving law enforcement the opportunity to pursue these mean criminals. With removals at six years high, work continues by repairing the junk the left tories. '
