‘Good for Christmas’ shoppers cry as supermarket flogs Yankee Candles for £2

CHRISTMAS may still be a few months away, but people are already busy buying gifts for loved ones.

It may feel a little premature to be thinking about the holiday season, but it’s definitely the perfect time to snag cheap deals in advance.

A budget supermarket is currently throwing the perfect £2 stocking stuffer into stores.

You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who wouldn’t love a Yankee Candle as a gift.

But the homeware brand’s luxury candles can be a little pricey, with large jars costing £27.99.

So it’s no surprise that people rush to buy them from Lidl after seeing an incredible offer.

Savvy shopper Joanne alerted people to the deal, saying: “Good Autumn Yankee candles £2.99 or two for £4 Lidl, bargain.”

So if you pack more than one candle it will only cost £2 each.

The 425g jars are available in a range of scents including Caramel Swirl, Cinnamon Spice, Perfect Pumpkin, Apple Orchard and Cherry Berry.

Joanne’s message on Extreme Coupons and Bargains UKa private Facebook group with 2.5 million members, has caused a stir with 2,000 likes and 2,400 comments.

And people consider them the perfect Christmas gift.

“Alright for stocking stuffer,” one gushed.

A second echoed: “Good for Christmas gifts.”

A third wrote: “Need to get there ASAP lol.”

A fourth added: “These look great, you should definitely buy some.”

“If you happen to see one, give me 100,” a fifth begged a friend.

Meanwhile, a sixth said: “Omg needs them all.”

However, you’ll have to be quick to get your hands on the cheap candles, because according to Lidl employees, they are flying off the shelves.

A supermarket worker said: “We did that [have them] last week, but they sold out in seconds.”

A second revealed: “We had a few but they all went within 5 minutes.”

SMELL THE DIFFERENCE

If you’re picky about Yankee Candle’s scent, check the label before purchasing.

Some Yankee Candles have ‘Home Inspiration’ stamped below the company logo, such as the ones currently offered at Lidl.

And a former employee has claimed that this means the quality of the scent isn’t as good.

On TikTok she said: “Home Inspiration is not the original Yankee Candles.

“I work for Yankee Candles and get this question regularly. It’s a cheaper version.”

And candle lovers seem to agree, with many complaining about the quality.

One said, “They don’t smell nearly as strong as the original Yankees.”

“Don’t be fooled by Home Inspirations.”

A second wrote: “I have this and it has no scent. Cheaper, but cheaper for a reason.”

Meanwhile, a third asked: “Does anyone think the Yankees aren’t as good as they used to be?”
