Celebrate the spooky season now with these horror games on Xbox Game Pass
It’s October, which means it’s time for scary movies, dress up as your favorite character and play horror games. And if you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you’ll have access to a variety of demon and monster-filled games to get you into the Halloween spirit.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – a CNET Editors’ Choice award pick – offers hundreds of games to play on your Xbox Series $20 per month. With a subscription you get access to a large library of games with new titles added monthly, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, plus other benefits such as online multiplayer and offers on non-Game Pass titles.

Dead space
Return to the USG Ishimura and battle the grotesque creatures that lurk in this remake of a survival horror classic. You play as an engineer named Isaac Clarke who responds to the ship’s distress signal. Your partner Nicole is on board, and after discovering that the crew has been massacred, you set out to find her and discover what happened. Feel free to play this game with the lights on – I won’t tell.
DOOM
The demons overrunning a research facility on Mars aren’t the real danger in this game, it’s you. You play as the Doom Slayer, a force of nature armed to the teeth with a chainsaw, missiles and lots of big guns. Your mission is simple: tear and tear until it’s done, or until you need to take a break for snacks.
Resident Evil 2
Welcome back to Raccoon City; look at the blood and gore on the ground. This award-winning remake takes you back to the epicenter of the virus outbreak, where rookie cop Leon Kennedy starts his first day and student Claire Redfield searches for her missing brother. Modern gameplay mechanics and visuals enhance the horror elements of this game and once again make it one of the best Resident Evil games. So make sure you have green herbs and ammunition in stock; you will need them.

State of disrepair 2
How do you survive the hordes of undead? Civilization has fallen after zombies began rising from the dead, and it’s up to you to gather survivors, gather resources, and build a community from the ashes. You can play this game with up to three friends to see who can last the longest in a zombie apocalypse.
