8 Best Products for Eczema with the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance
When I was 12 years old, I was diagnosed with eczema – a condition that causes a rash on dry, red, itchy and swollen skin. My doctor told me I would probably grow out of it, but here I am, 13 years later, with the same scratchy, crimson spots. I get the worst eczema attacks on my wrists, the backs of my knees, the backs of my hands, the folds of my arms and my face.
Over many itchy years, I have learned which products are best for my sensitive and eczema-prone skin. Luckily I didn’t have to do all the work. The National Eczema Association awards personal care products with its prestigious Seal of acceptance. Every product with this seal meets strict standards, has been assessed by a panel of dermatologists and eczema experts and is suitable for extremely sensitive skin. Most products I swear by have this quality mark. This is what I strive for to alleviate the urge to scrape my skin right off.

If you take anything from this collection, let it be this product. I’ve tried many daily face creams over the years, and some irritate or aggravate my eczema. Since I occasionally get spots on my face, it’s important that I find a face cream that is fragrance-free and gentle, and Tower 28 SOS Daily Barrier Recovery Cream is by far the best.
I tried this product solely for its seal of acceptance, and I have not been disappointed. It’s light yet very moisturizing and helps restore my skin’s natural barrier with ceramides. The cream does not contain alcohol or essential oils that can clog pores and bother sensitive, eczema-prone skin. I use this product every morning.
Plus points:
- Lightweight cream
- Helps reduce redness
- Clean, non-greasy finish
Disadvantages:

Finding the right moisturizer isn’t the only key to managing eczema, so is applying a gentle cleanser. I use Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser to wash my face, and I even use it as a body wash in the shower. I’ve used facial cleansers before that feel like they’re stripping my skin, but this gel from Cetaphil feels light and forgiving. It also contains moisturizing ingredients such as B vitamins and glycerin. Although this cleanser is very basic, it is exactly what eczema-prone skin needs.
Don’t be alarmed by the chemical-like smell, it is odorless and contains no perfume.
Plus points:
- Very gentle on the skin
- Contains glycerin and B vitamins
- One bottle lasts me a long time
Disadvantages:
- Not everyone will like the scent

While I use the Tower 28 cream every morning, I try to apply a thicker cream at night. In my experience, rich night creams tend to clog my pores, irritate my already sensitive skin, and smell strongly of fragrance. That’s why I love this repair cream from Alpyn Beauty. It is gentle but very effective at locking in moisture and helping my skin maintain a healthy barrier. I’ve been using it for a while, and I’m really satisfied. It has not caused the eczema that often flares up on my face.
The packaging states that you can use it in the morning and evening. However, I applied it once in the morning and felt weighed down by it. In my opinion it is better as a night cream.
Plus points:
- The small container lasted me a while
- Contains peptides, ghostberry, hyaluronic acid and ceramides
- Aims to improve fine lines, wrinkles, elasticity and clarity
Disadvantages:
- Duration
- More of a night cream

My favorite body cream comes from Aveeno. The Eczema Therapy Moisturizing cream is rich but light enough not to leave a heavy residue on my skin. The main ingredient in this moisturizer is colloidal oatmeala common, effective and steroid-free treatment for eczema. It has anti-inflammatory properties, helps improve the skin barrier and provides moisture. Aveeno’s cream is also free of fragrances, parabens and dyes.
I love how soothing this lotion feels on my skin, and I recommend applying it after a shower or before bed.
Plus points:
- Steroid-free and fragrance-free
- Ingredients include soothing colloidal oatmeal
- A rich cream that can be used all over the body
Disadvantages:
- More for daily relief, not flare-ups

If you regularly suffer from stubborn spots that do not respond to the creams on this list so far, it is best to use Cortizone-10. However, if you choose the natural route to treat your eczema, keep in mind that this cream contains hydrocortisone (a topical steroid). I use this lotion specifically for flare-ups that appear on my wrists and hands, and I turn to steroid-free creams and lotions for daily use.
This Cortizone lotion clears up spots for me overnight. I apply it after showering or before going to bed, and my skin will look and feel much fresher in the morning. I also love how affordable it is, and since I only use a little bit at a time, it lasts a while.
Plus points:
- Contains vitamins A, C and E
- Ingredients include 1% hydrocortisone
- Very affordable
Disadvantages:

I love running and I have discovered over the years that excessive sweating during a workout can trigger my eczema. Plus, I tend to sand extra easily. To combat this, I use – believe it or not – diaper rash cream. I have no children; One day I followed another runner’s advice to treat chafing. I use Boudreaux’s Sensitive Skin Diaper Rash Ointment on rashes after running, and I’ll even apply it to existing rashes and eczema patches to protect them before a workout. Of course, it is also safe for babies.
The cream is thick and I like how well it protects my eczema or rash from further irritation. But be careful, it can leave white marks on your clothes.
Plus points:
- Ideal for adult and baby skin
- Contains only five ingredients
- Free from parabens, preservatives, dyes and talcum powder
Disadvantages:
- Can put on clothes easily

A few years ago I was introduced to Target’s Honest beauty line, and I’m so happy to find out that the products have been awarded a few Seals of Acceptance. I use Honest’s Calm and Heal Melting Balm and the Calm and Heal Melting Eye Balm in the winter, when my skin becomes exceptionally dry. This balm uses hyaluronic acid, jojoba and squalane oils to hydrate and protect the skin. At first the balm feels thick and gel-like, but as you massage it into the skin, it melts more into a cream.
I use this balm to moisturize my face, my under eyes and the tops of my hands. I have never had an eczema flare-up with these products.
Plus points:
- Made without parabens, phthalates, PEGs, synthetic fragrances and dyes
- Hypoallergenic and clinically tested for sensitive skin
- Cruelty-free and vegan
Disadvantages:
- May have a greasy finish

Any list of the best products for eczema would be incomplete without mentioning Vaseline. It is perhaps my most used personal care product. I use petroleum jelly to moisturize dry, cracked lips, hold or “slug” under-eye products, remove makeup, protect cuts, brighten dull skin, prevent chafing, and sore spots from eczema. soften.
Pure petroleum jelly is also great for providing a protective barrier over your other eczema products. This ensures that your skin fully absorbs the ingredients and is protected from further irritation.
Plus points:
- Very affordable
- Just one ingredient
- Ideal for eczema spots anywhere on the body
Disadvantages:
