Elderly woman dies after car collides with ute west of Scone, NSW
An elderly woman has died after a car collided with a ute near a rural town.
Emergency services rushed to Bunnan Road, Owens Gap, 14 miles west of Scone, after reports a Mitsubishi Lancer had collided with a Nissan Navara.
Paramedics arrived at the scene just after 4pm on Friday, with the female front passenger in the Mitsubishi Lancer pronounced dead at the scene.
The female driver of the sedan, aged 53, and the female passenger, aged 39, were flown to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
The male driver of the ute, 27, and his female passenger, 24, were also rushed to John Hunter Hospital.
The drivers of both vehicles have undergone a mandatory inspection.
Initial reports indicate the sedan was attempting to negotiate a right-hand bend when it collided with the ute.
Officers from the Hunter and Mid North Coast Crash Investigation Units attended and established a crime scene.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is still ongoing.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
