Amazon Prime Day: The portable jump starter I keep in my car is now 40% off
I wouldn’t consider myself a car girl, but there are a few things in the trunk of my car that you’ll never see me without. And one of the most essential is only $60 on Amazon – with a 40% discount in advance Amazon’s Prime Day event in October.
My grandfather was a mechanic, so I learned a lot about cars, but I never had to deal with car problems alone – until I did, when I had to solo jump-start my car’s battery. My beloved 2011 Toyota wouldn’t start and made a strange noise when I turned my key. Like any responsible young adult, I immediately Facetimed my father and played the audio for him. He decided within a minute that I had to start my car to get it running. (Spoiler: he was right.)
Luckily for me, I have the Powrun P-One 2000A car jump starter batterya gift from my apparently paranormal parent. Currently you can get it for 40% off the list price of $100 – or $60. So if you’re in the market, now’s the time. If you want even more peace of mind, there’s also a bundle with the Powrun P-One 2000A and the P-ONE PRO 2500A Jump Box for $120 — also a 40% discount.
This portable 12-volt jump starter is a complete kit to get your car battery going again without another car or anyone else’s help. Complete with mini jumper cables and instructions, it’s virtually idiot-proof. (I say this proudly as a car idiot who has used this pack several times to boost my car.)
It is easy to use. You prepare your car as you would if you were jumping it out of another car: pop the hood, locate the battery and attach the jumper cables. Then, using the black connector attached to the jumper cables, connect the jumper cables to the battery, connecting the blue plug to the corresponding port on the battery. Then you flip the switch to turn on the battery, and a green light on the jumper cable connector indicates you have a good connection. Then all you have to do is try starting your car again, and that extra charge bank should give you the juice you need to get it running.
While my specific model is no longer available, this model from the same manufacturer is very similar and is now on sale for Prime Day. This battery has enough capacity to start your car up to 25 times on a single charge, and is compatible with 12-volt petrol and diesel engines.
Not only will this battery help you get moving, but it also comes with a flashlight, compass, and ports you can use to charge your phone or other devices. It also has a screen that shows your consumption and remaining battery power. It’s light, compact and easy to store in your glove box or trunk.
I don’t like to promote any product as a life saver, but this really could be it. Luckily for me, my car battery died in a relatively safe place during the day, but the situation could easily have been much worse. Aside from the convenience of not needing another car to jump-start, this portable car battery is as good a safety tool as a car battery. And I feel much better driving around knowing I have it in my trunk, ready to go if I need to.
