NYT Strands Today (Game #217) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #217, are…
- BACON
- CHICKEN
- TOMATO
- VINAIGRETTE
- GREEN
- EGGS
- SPANGRAM: COB SALAD
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: Perfect
I guess there might be a divide between people in the US and people in the rest of the world here. Or maybe I’m the only one who hadn’t really heard of a COBBSALAD and therefore had trouble solving this one. I was also very confused by the theme designation ‘Do you have a blue cheese?’, which made me think it was a French thing – because why else is it spelled ‘blue’ and not ‘blue’. So the whole thing was a bit mind-boggling.
I eventually figured it out, but it was really just a matter of trial and error. I saw BACON early on, and so did CHICKEN, so I realized it was a food-themed puzzle. It took me a while to find the others, and getting the spangram was entirely based on the fact that there was nothing else there by the time I got it. Not the most satisfying game for me – but if you know and like Cobb Salad (which sounds disgusting to me) then you might have found it just fine. Whoa hum.
How did you do today? Send me an email and let me know.
