Up to 50 passengers have escaped with only minor injuries after a train had hit a truck trailer at a notorious intersection in southeastern Victoria.
The police confirmed that the V-Line passenger train had hit a trailer on Tuesday morning with an excavator on the Princes Highway at Kilmany.
Researchers attended the level of level, about 20 km west of sale, after the collision that took place around 10.10 am.

Officials confirmed that the Bairnsdale-bound V/Line train collided with a truck while it passed a cross between two farms, but who had no tree gates.
AV/Line spokesperson said the intersection had a large sign with a photo of a railway crossing and a stop sign with the text 'Search for trains'.

There were no serious injury to passengers, the train driver or conductor on board the service and the truck driver.
Emergency services crews helped to help passengers from the train before they were safely transferred to coaches to continue their journey.
Officials advised that coaches replaced trains between traralgon and Bairnsdale, with service changes that are expected for a number of hours, so that passengers have to check the V/Line website, app or twitter feed for the latest information before they travel.
The office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) have been informed.
Crews are ready on the spot to assess and repair any damage to the train and railway infrastructure, once in view of the everything by emergency services.
AV/Line spokesperson said the services will be resumed through the part of the track when it is safe to do this.
“We thank passengers for their patience while we work to bring them to their destination as quickly and safely as possible after an incident at a crossing near Kilmany,” said the spokesperson.
“Safety is our priority and we will collaborate with the relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.”

It is almost 20 years since a woman was killed at the nearby intersection also in Kilmany.
The 59-year-old car crashed on March 21, 2005 by train.
There had been no tree gates, lights or signals at the intersection, but they were installed after a safety investigation.
