Keir Starmer is ready to split the EU by taking revenge in the rates of Donald Trump about Staalimport.
The PM is expected to avoid a tit-for-tat escalation if the UK is covered by the new 25 percent levy from the president.
The hope that Great – Britain could be saved was given a blow last night, because Mr. Trump complained about the 'huge shortage' in the trade between countries – although that is in services, with good balance.
Since the proposals are steel from the UK, the rate will be subjected from 12 March.
But Sir Keir's position could contrast sharply with that of Brussels, raising questions about his urge to a 'reset' in relationships after the Brexit.
The European Commission has insisted that it will be back at steel rates in the midst of the increasing fear of a global trade war.
Downing Street will try to complete a trip to the White House for Sir Keir in the coming weeks to personally discuss issues with the president, although the timing is not yet clear.

Mr. Trump has promised to impose 25 percent rates on 'every steel that enters the United States', as well as additional costs on aluminum.
Ministers are waiting for details of the policy, but the British steel industry has warned about a 'devastating' impact on an already struggling sector.
Groot -Britain exported 166,433 tons of steel to the US in 2023, the last full year for which figures are available.
Figures from Trade Body UK Steel showed that around 162,716 tons were sent to the US in 2024, but that does not include any data from December.
The US is the second largest industry export market after the EU, although the government said that it was only 5 percent of British steel output in 2023.
So far, in his second term in the White House, Mr. Trump has imposed the tasks on the import from Mexico and Canada, but then delayed and he has also imposed an extra levy of 10 percent on goods from China.
The president has previously suggested that a deal could be closed to release the UK of rates, while he claims that Great Britain is 'out of the line'.
The new ambassador of the UK in Washington, Lord Mandelson, insisted on a reconciling approach in an interview at night.

The new Labor architect said that his 'priority' would be to help encourage an investment relationship with the US that is suitable for the 21st century.
“Each of us wants to grow our economies,” he said.
'I think what we should do is to build a technology and investment relationship between the US and the UK that is suitable for the 21st century. That is where I want to concentrate. '
He added: “We will depend on our economy of private investments, foreign investments, of which a large amount will come from the United States of America.”
