Scepsis about trans -rights is growing in the UK, according to a poll – with views that apparently shift among younger people.

Long -term YouGOV research has shown that almost half of the British – 48 percent – is permitted against the legal gender change.

That was 11 percentage points higher in the past two years, and higher than the 34 percent who supported the idea.

More than a third person believed that 'social' gender change should not be allowed, compared to 49 percent that it supported.

In the meantime, majorities among both men and women are now opposed to the treatment of hormone that is available on the NHS for those who want to change sex.

Yougov also discovered increasing concern among younger people, with a 16-point increase of 18-24 year olds who oppose legal sex change, to 36 percent. Half still supports that it is allowed.

The apparent movement comes after campaign on women's rights by prominent figures such as Harry Potter author JK Rowling.

About 41 percent said they had paid 'a lot' or a 'reasonable amount' of attention to the problems in the last survey, conducted in December, an increase of 35 percent in the wave of 2022.

Yougov said that the results pointed to a 'growing resistance to transgender rights among those groups that are generally more tolerant of the issue, such as women and young people'.

“In fact, the only question on which women are now taking the tolerant view of transgender rights says that people should be able to change their gender socially, although with 55 percent this is still a decrease of eight points since the 2022 survey,” it said it company.

'When it comes to whether or not people should be able to change their gender legally, there has been a crossover between women.

“While in 2022 women supported people to legally change their gender by 44 percent to 32 percent, these figures have since shifted to 37 percent who remain in favor, but 42 percent now against.”
