Walking into your husband’s house with another woman can feel like the end of the world, but one woman’s experience left her feeling disgusted rather than betrayed.
The woman recalled how the circumstances surrounding her husband’s infidelity made her physically ill.
In a Reddit afternarrated the unnamed woman the situation while seeking advice.
She explained that she and her husband were married for two years and together for five years.
Their wedding had been drama-free until one night the poster decided to go out with a friend, who planned to stay at her house.
She said her husband “didn’t want to be alone all night, so he said he was just going to hang out with his stepsister.”
According to the Redditor, her 30-year-old husband and his 24-year-old stepsister have “always been close.”
“Their parents got married when he was ten and she was four,” she explained.
The step-siblings went to a local bar for drinks before returning to the couple’s home.
After the poster started feeling unwell, she decided to return home early.
“I didn’t expect to walk in on them having sex on the couch,” she said.
The woman recalled how disgusted she was by the act between people who “consider themselves full brothers and sisters.”
“I literally threw up on the floor by the front door,” she wrote.
“It kind of sickens me that they’ve been in each other’s lives since they were kids and could actually do this.
She described their behavior as ‘really disturbing’ before revealing she is divorcing her husband.
While the step-siblings insisted they were drunk and “it just happened,” the poster said she didn’t believe them.
After her husband’s stepsister admitted that they did it first sex When she was 17, the Reddit user decided to tell her in-laws.
Laws about having relationships as family members
The Sexual Offenses Act 1956 prohibits relationships between a person and their grandchild, child, sibling, half-brother or parent.
However, step-siblings can marry in Britain if they are both 21 or over.
The provisions state that the youngest of the couple may not have lived under the same roof as the older of the two before the age of 18.
The young person may also not have been treated as a child of the older person’s family.
Cousins over the age of 18 can legally marry in Britain without parental consent.
‘I felt like they needed to know, and [should] deal with it however they want,” she explained.
“They still seem to be a little bit in denial, but I don’t blame them.”
The woman said she is no longer in contact with her ex, but would eventually have to deal with him over their shared home.
