'Will support any CM face who...': Uddhav Thackeray on CM candidate ahead of Maharashtra assembly elections
NEW DELHI: As the BJP wins the Assembly elections in Haryana on Tuesday, securing 48 of the 90 seats in Parliament and is set to form the government for a record third term, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray reiterated that he is ready to challenge any leader supports. Minister-designate suggested allies of Congress or NCP (SP) to ‘save’ the state.
“I had said this then, and I am saying it now: Congress must announce a face, or the NCP (SP) must do it. The Congress, the NCP (SP) must speak in unison. I will support any face declared by them because my Maharashtra is dear to me. I want to see the interests of Maharashtra. My resolve is to do everything to save Maharashtra,” Thackeray said during a speech.
He also accused the Mahayuti government of promoting ‘fake’ narratives across the state through advertisements ahead of the crucial Assembly elections.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief criticized the government’s flagship ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’, which provides Rs 1,500 per month to underprivileged women, and alleged that the ruling coalition was trying to make people betray the ‘Maharashtra dharma’ by giving them their own money through the scheme.
“It is raining guarantees but there is drought when it comes to implementation of plans,” he said, taking a dig at the Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP government.
This is the second time that the former chief minister of Maharasthra has made this statement ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections scheduled for next month.
Earlier, in August, the Shiv Sena (UBT) president had insisted on deciding the face of the MVA chief minister first, instead of being swayed by the logic of who wins most seats, and claimed that he would support any candidate announced by the Congress and the NCP (SP). ) for the top message. The Congress and the NCP (SP) had then made it clear that they did not want to enter this area (CM face) until the results of the parliamentary elections were announced.
Thackeray also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of building a ‘wall’ between Gujarat and the rest of the country. He said there had never been a Gujarati-Marathi dispute in Maharashtra and stressed the importance of ensuring justice for “sons of the soil” (indigenous residents) while making it clear that his party was not an enemy to anyone. “Our fight is against forces that are anti-India and anti-Maharashtra,” Thackeray said.
