An assistant head teacher who was caught with more than 11,500 images for child abuse was fired – after he was spared the prison on the 'horrible' sexual offenses.
Gareth Mellor, 45, admitted two accusations of making indecent images of children and one indictment to possess them and received a two -year prison sentence at Leeds Crown Court in December 2023.
He was arrested in his house in Staffordshire in May 2021 after he paid for indecent images of minors through a coded cloud storage service.

When Mellor paid a provider that is known to deliver indecent material, the National Crime Agency traced the e -mail address that was used for the transaction back to the teacher and arrested him.
