She said: “I’m a dog trainer who has been around dogs for over eight years and I’ve met hundreds of breeds over the years, so these are the breeds I wouldn’t recommend to first-time dog owners.”

First on her list was the Australian Shepherd, a herding breed.

She said that these gods had high needs and high energy, which means you have to spend most of your time stimulating them to keep them from acting out.

The dog trainer also included Border Collies on the list for exactly the same reason.

Ingrid added: “If you are not constantly ready to work with your dog, Border Collie is not a good option.”

She said German Shepherds seem to be a popular choice among first-time owners because many people grew up with them as pets.

But the dog professional warned that they are very territorial and very specific with their people.

She continued, “It’s a tall order and most people just aren’t prepared for it.”

She revealed that huskies were also popular among first-time owners, but she warned people to stay away from them.

Ingrid explained: “Huskies are just some of the wildest dogs in existence and if you’re willing to have a dog that always wants to do what he wants to do then fine, but I don’t think this is the right dog for a first time dog owner.”

The dog trainers said that the Belgian Malinois is also not the right dog for novice owners and finally the Doodle.

The dog professional said the main reason for this was because they could not be bred ethically.

One person wrote: “Yes yes yes! I volunteer at an animal shelter and every breed you mentioned comes in with behavior problems and people have no idea how to deal with them.”
