Rachael explained that she uses an alcohol spray when she sees pests in her home.
“Isopropyl alcohol kills spiders, mosquitoes, dust mites and fleas,” she said.
You can buy a one liter bottle of isopropyl alcohol for just £4.99 from Amazon.
The strong odor of rubbing alcohol is a proven deterrent to spiders and insects.
Given their sensitive odor receptors, they find the solution overwhelming and unpleasant.
Exposing spiders to a large amount of the solution can dehydrate them and cause motor dysfunction.
However, for the alcohol to be effective enough, you must spray it directly on the pests or expose them to it for an extended period of time.
Otherwise, the solution is unlikely to harm or kill the pests at all.
Experts recommend caution when using the solution in homes with pets.
TikTok users shared their thoughts on the advice in the comments section.
“My dad didn’t teach me that and he’s a pest control technician,” one viewer wrote.
