Muslim group is fighting against civil court order to demolish Shimla mosque
SHIMLA: The All-Himachal Muslims’ Organization (AHMO) has announced that it will challenge the Shimla Municipal Commissioner court’s October 5 order to demolish the top three illegally constructed floors of the five-storey building. AHMO spokesperson Nazakat Hashmi said after a meeting in Shimla on Wednesday that those who had given the undertaking before the court to carry out the demolition of the portions built above the permitted limit were neither office bearers of any organization nor authorized by the Waqf board.
The whole Islamic community disagreed with the court’s order, Hashmi said. “…Once we receive the certified copy of the order, we will challenge it in the next appellate authority,” he said, adding that they were ready to fight the case all the way to the SC, and would only agree to a court order that was “based on facts.”
Meanwhile, the Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti, which led the protests, has crossed over Himachal Demanding demolition of illegally built mosques, the organization on Thursday posted hoardings at several Hindu-owned shops in Sanjauli Market, identifying them as ‘Sanatan’ establishments, with a call to economically boycott Muslim vendors.
