A wintery weather system is set to dump the southeast of Australia into a cold snap with snow that falls on the Tasmanian and Victorian Alps.
It is predicted that the snow will hit the Alps on Saturday evening and until Sunday morning, said 7News meteorologist Jane Bunn.
The system is also set to see the temperatures in Melbourne fall to 20 ° C by Saturday afternoon.
This weekend Hobart will peak at only 16 ° C, while Adelaide, who hit the Low 40s on Wednesday, will see a significant decrease in the Low 20S by the weekend.
Bunn said the cold again will continue for a large part of next week.
