NYT Strands Today (Game #223) – The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #223, are…
- PORK
- BUGS
- GRANDMA
- DAFFE
- FOXY
- MISTORN
- PETUNIA
- SPANGRAM: CHARACTERS
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 2 tips
I have mixed feelings about this Strands puzzle. On the plus side, I loved Looney Tunes as a kid and enjoyed the antics of PORKY, DAFFY, BUGS Bunny and the others. On the other hand, the NYT puzzle makers couldn’t find room for the gang’s best characters, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. But as far as this puzzle goes, my biggest problem is that the spangram is CHARACTERS – which they all are, yes, but shouldn’t it be more specific than that?
Other than that, this was undoubtedly a tough match. It’s been about 40 years since I watched these cartoons regularly, and they weren’t that big of a deal when my kids were young (by then it was all Peppa Pig, Frozen and Dora). I found a few, but needed hints for FOXY (which I didn’t remember) and FOGHORN. So a mixed bag, but overall I give it a thumbs up. And for today at least, that’s all people.
