I went to the Aldi toy event to buy items that I could sell on Vinted for double the price
A WOMAN has revealed she went to Aldi’s wooden toy event not only to buy items for her child, but also to collect items to sell on Vinted for a profit.
Atlanta Hatch, a 25-year-old mother from Britain, confessed to selling items for double the price on the marketplace app and being called “despicable” by trolls as a result.
The savvy mum claimed she went to her local Aldi store the night before the event started and was able to grab a trolley full of goodies.
The event, which started on Thursday, October 10 and sold out within minutes, saw shoppers racing to get their hands on limited edition toys, mostly made of wood.
Not only did Atlanta give some as gifts to friends and keep some for her child, but she also cashed in a big profit.
But people are completely divided by the mother’s claims – and while some saw no problem with it, others described her actions as ‘shameful’ and ‘disgusting’.
Taking to social media, Atlanta said: “So this is going to be quite controversial but I did go to Aldi’s wooden toy event and bought to resell.”
Atlanta claimed that while she intended to sell items for a profit, not everything she bought was intended for resale as she also brought some “real gifts.”
She explained that she was lucky enough to get a beauty belt, three activity boards, a slow cooker, a cookie jar and a donut set, among a number of other inexpensive purchases.
The mother admitted that when she arrived at Aldi and saw the wooden toys, she called her friends to ask what they wanted.
Not only has she collected items for her friends, but she also claims she knows “at least three other moms who have bought something to resell,” as she said: “It’s not me and to be honest, I don’t ready that I will do it.”
Atlanta explained that a TikTok clip was made about her Vinted page accusing her of reselling Aldi purchases, to which she continued: “On Vinted I got almost 100 messages about how mean I am, I’m being reported to HMRC , literally every word you can think of, that was my name yesterday when I listed on Vinted.”
Not only did she sell items on Vinted, but she also listed the wooden toys on eBay.
She then explained that she had resold two wooden pies for £16 each and the slow cooker for £20, as she admitted: “Yes they were double that but they weren’t extreme prices.”
Atlanta revealed her ‘reasons’ for reselling, explaining that if she didn’t do it, someone else would, so why couldn’t she benefit from it.
While parents criticized Atlanta for buying items that others wanted to buy as Christmas presents, she explained that she needs the extra money for her child, who has autism.
She emphasized, “I could use some extra money for a stroller or the sensory items that neurotypical children might have, but my child would need them more. I don’t see the problem with it.”

But social media users remained deeply divided by Atlanta’s claims.
One person said: “You are taking advantage of parents and that is a shame.”
If people don’t pay your bills, it’s none of their business how you make money

Another added: “This is disgusting. Parents struggle to afford to buy presents for their children at Christmas, and you buy in bulk for selfish reasons, leaving others without.
“I hope Vinted removes them.”
A third commented: “Yet there are people like me who really want some of these toys for my twins’ Christmas but literally have very little left!”
Despite this, a mother wrote at the same time: “I appreciate this, get your bread girl.
“Honestly, there are people doing bad things instead of trying to make some extra money.”
While a second agreed: “I didn’t do it with toys but I made so much money reselling them to fund my maternity leave!
“If people don’t pay your bills, it’s not their bill company how to make money.”
