Aston Villa legend Gary Shaw left almost £ 300,000 to his family after dying 63 years last year without writing a will.
The former Villa striker that won the European Cup in 1982 is generally considered one of the largest players of the club ever and died last year after a 'serious' head injury when he hit his head on a sidewalk.
After a night out, Shaw stepped out of a taxi in the Jamhuis van Birmingham when he hit his head before he soon discovered that on the street on September 6 collapsed on the street.
He died ten days later after his condition deteriorated.
The 63-year-old was never married or children and had not written a will at the time of his death, which means that a grant of administration letters was requested and was released on Monday.
The document, also known as a Probate, means that the most 'just' person can register to become the manager of the estate of a deceased person if they had not made their wishes clear before they died.
The issue of this document showed that the gross value of his estate was £ 297,670, reduced to a net value of £ 287,027, which will be managed by a lawyer for Michael Measey – considered one of Shaw's friends or family members.

“However, some time after he got out of the taxi, fell and his head hit on the sidewalk and was made unconscious.
“It was somewhere between 2 a.m. and 3 o'clock he found and an ambulance was called.”

A doctor said that Shaw had sustained an extensive and diffuse head injury and that no surgical intervention was possible.
He was stabilized and turned on the critical care department. He had a CT scan on September 9, showing a deterioration in the brain and he died on September 16.
The doctor added that Shaw's death was the result of a serious head injury due to a fall and that hypertension was a contributing factor.

Shaw, originally graduated from Villa Academy, scored three goals on the way to their European Cup final against Bayern Munich in Rotterdam and scored 18 times for the club during their title from March to the first division in 1981.
