Apple adds 3 more useful upgrades to your iPhone with iOS 18.2
- iOS 18.2 is currently being tested by developers
- Numerous new features are spotted
- Upgrades are coming for Find My and Camera Controls
Now that iOS 18.1 is available to everyone, iOS 18.2 is in beta for developers. As testing continues, we’ll discover more and more new features, on top of those already spotted in the next release.
First, there’s an interesting upgrade coming to the Find My service: the ability to share the location of lost items with anyone you want (via 9to5Mac). Currently, you can only share an AirTag location with trusted friends or family.
The example Apple gives is the ability to share the location of your lost luggage with an airline, but there are several other ways this could come in handy. There is the option to stop sharing at any time, and the sharing link will remain live for a few hours at most.
Another feature is a little more behind the scenes, with Apple giving app developers the ability to share what’s on the screen with Siri (via MacRumors). That means you’ll be able to give Siri (and possibly ChatGPT) commands related to what you’re viewing in an app, be it documents or photos, if the developer adds this kind of support.
More camera controls

The third upgrade is to the new Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 series. As noted by the MacRumor contributor Aaron Perristhere will be a new auto-exposure and auto-focus lock option for the button – so the current exposure and focus settings are locked in as soon as the button is pressed.
Besides, we have a new one double click speed setting for Camera Controls, so you can change how quickly your iPhone expects a double-click. The new options listed in the iOS 18.2 developer beta are Standard, SlowlyAnd Slower.
This all adds to the current functionality of the Camera Control, including zoom and exposure settings. However, because this is a beta version, we can’t be completely sure that these features will be retained once the software is available to everyone.
The latest reports suggest that iOS 18.2 will be rolled out to the masses in the first week of December. Looks like we’re also getting ChatGPT integration (including a Plus upgrade feature) and image generation in this release.
