An under-construction bridge that was part of a bullet train project collapsed in Anand.
The collapse occurred around 5 p.m., leaving several people feared trapped under the rubble and requiring an urgent response from local authorities.
Immediate response and rescue efforts
Confirming the incident, Anand Superintendent of Police Gaurav Jasani said, “Two employees who were rescued have been shifted to hospital for treatment. They are doing well. Two other workers are believed to still be in custody. rescue operations.”
Rescue teams, including police and fire officials, worked tirelessly at the scene. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has issued an initial statement, revealing that the collapse occurred at the construction site near Mahi River, close to Vadodara. “Three workers were trapped between concrete blocks. Rescue operations are underway using cranes and excavators. One worker has been rescued and is being treated at hospital,” said NHSRCL.
Anand police and fire brigade rushed to the spot as soon as the collapse was reported. Rescue operations are in full swing, with teams working tirelessly to locate and rescue those trapped under the rubble. So far, two workers have been successfully rescued, but two others are still trapped under the rubble.
The collapse occurred when the girders used at the construction site at Vasad gave way, causing a significant portion of the bridge to collapse.
