A woman from the Caribbean remains illegally in the United Kingdom, who says she is one of the reasons why she could not be deported, is because her in Latvian -born husband does not like spicy food, it said today: 'There is a large Difference between enjoying the strange curry and having hot meals constantly in a damp land. '

Lynthia Calliste, 35, got the headlines this week after it had arisen that she had cited her Latvian forklift truck Driver -and found the local cuisine indigestible as a reason to prevent her from being deported to her native Grenada.

And today, only speaking on MailOnline, Lynthia and husband Konstantin Vinakovs doubled the spicy food argument.

She told us: 'I sometimes cook my husband Grenadian food here in England and it is true that he was on vacation to hot countries.

“But there is a big difference between going the strange Grenadian Dish and spending two weeks in the sun to that kind of spicy food constantly in an environment that is called almost 24/7.”

Lynthia only had a permission to stay in Great -Britain for six months when she flushed with her son in March 2018 – but she remained illegal in the UK after her visitor visa had expired.

She then met and later married Mr Vinakovs, who, unlike her, has a permanent fixed status in the UK.

Now used her married name, Mrs. Vinakovs, Lynthia then applied for a wedding visa that would have enabled her to live here – so that the home office would be started.

And she is now fighting as resulting steps to deport her from the United Kingdom back to her native Grenada by claiming that the divorce of her husband would violate Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights – the right to one Family life.

When officials from the home office Lynthia said that this was not good enough for her to stay here, because her husband could just as easily come to her in Grenada, the mother's mother pushed back and said it would be too much hassle for his family cause to fly to the Caribbean to visit him.

She claimed that her husband 'would not be able to tolerate the kitchen in Grenada' and 'worry … the heat' of the tropical island would be too much for him.

She also said she can't go back to Grenada because she has a violent former partner who pays a threat to her life.

But when photos came to the fore on social media that seemed to show her cooking grenulic dishes at home and that he placed photos of previous sun -drenched holidays, critics mocked her business.

And it was these details that ensured that her story made the headlines in Great Britain.

Speaking from their Cambridgeshire house today, she qualified their business and explained: 'What I said was that he would find it difficult to adjust, from a relatively cooler climate to a very hot.

“And the same with the food.

'For some reason this was picked up [by the media] After my last hearing of immigration. '

Mr Vinakovs agreed with his wife's argument and said: 'My wife sometimes cooks grenadian food, but apart from a chicken dish that she does, I am not particularly fond of the kitchen.

'And yes, I went on vacation to hot places such as Tenerife and for two weeks I can enjoy the sun and heat.

'But I would have trouble living somewhere like Grenada'

Mr Vinakovs, with whom she married in 2022 after she met him in Great -Britain, supports her case -and insists that he does not want to move to Grenada and is forced to give up the fork -lift lane that he here for ten years has held.

He added that Britain is also much cheaper and easier for his mother and sister, who still live in Latvia, to visit than thousands of kilometers away in the Caribbean.

But Lynthia and her husband are adamant that the issue of spicy food and hot temperatures was just one of a number of reasons she had suggested in her case.

And the most serious thing was that she was originally fled the island because of a violent and offensive ex -partner – whose feared that she might be at risk again if she was forced to return.

And Mrs. Vinakovs also claimed that she now has no home to go back – because a hurricane destroyed her family house on the island last September.

She told us: 'The reason I came to England was because an ex-partner was violently against me. 'When we separated, he did not take it well and I kept bothering myself and withheld it at work.

'I got some money together and came to England to get away from him so that I could get some space.

'I initially stayed with a friend, but then my son moved here a year later and we got a place together.

'I fear that if I go back, my ex will focus again.

'Plus my family house, the place where I grew up, is no longer. It was destroyed in a hurricane that met Grenada last September.

“My brother sent me photos of the rubble. There is no home for me to go back. '

Mrs. Vinakovs initially moved to Stevenage in Hertfordshire when she arrived in March 2018 on a six -month visitor visa and stayed with a friend.

After her son – now 14 years old – moved to the UK to join her in December 2019, the couple settled at home in Rugeley, Staffordshire.

After meeting Mr Vinakovs, 30, a few months after arrival in Great -Britain, they eventually settled together in Cambridgeshire, where they still live.

In 2022, they married a registration office and Mrs. Vinakovs applied for a wedding visa, which then led the home office to start the investigation into her immigration status.

Her case was initially thrown away during an immigration ribunal in the first level in November, but she has now appealed to the top court.

She can stay in the UK until she has exhausted all the phases of her last professional effort.

Mrs. Vinakovs added: 'I built a family in England.

'All stress and unrest [of moving back to Grenada] Would be too much, not just for me, but my son who is now studying for his GCSEs.

“His life – our life – is now in England.”

In the previous hearing, the tribunal ruled that Mr Vinakovs regularly ate the Caribbean food of his wife, with a judge who claimed that the Latvian apparently had 'no special effort' with a style of the kitchen.

Judge Mark Blundell, who supervised the hearing, also claimed that there was 'no evidence' to demonstrate the heat in Grenada, would be 'particularly difficult' for Mr Vinakovs to handle.

His social media accounts, seen by MailOnline, seem to show him that he enjoys Jetski rides in the tropical sun.

Judge Blundell said that there was' no evidence 'that he' would “be unable to live and work in the temperatures enjoyed by those who are on vacation on the island.”

However, Mr Vinakovs said: 'I have been to England for the past ten years. I paid taxes everywhere and worked hard.

'I paid for all my wife's legal bills. It was an incredibly expensive process.

'Why should I leave everything for which I worked? My work is here, my friends are here.

'Grenada is a small island, there are simply not the type of employment options that are here.

'If I have to go to the Caribbean with my wife, I wouldn't see my mother or sister.

'At the moment it is easy for them to visit us in the UK, because it takes the equivalent of £ 50 and takes three hours.

'To visit Grenada, she would cost thousands of and it would take more than 15 hours in a plane. They couldn't do that. '
