Watch: BJP's 'samosa' party amid Himachal CM Sukhu's snack mix-up row
NEW DELHI: Amid the controversy surrounding Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the snack mix, BJP leader Jairam Thakur organized a samosa party with BJP workers at the Circuit House in Mandi.
Earlier in the day, CM Sukhu clarified the investigation into the recent samosa cake mix-up, which arose after snacks meant for the CM were allegedly served to his security personnel. The situation escalated when allegations surfaced that the CID had launched an investigation into the incident. However, both the Prime Minister and the authorities have denied these allegations.
“There is no such thing… The CID got involved in the issue of misconduct,” Himachal CM Sukhu told news agency ANI.
CID Deputy General Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha also said it was an internal issue of CID and should not become a political issue.

“This is completely an internal matter of the CID. It should not be politicized. The CM does not eat samosas… We have not informed anyone about this. We have only said to find out what happened. The government has nothing to do with this… We will find out how this information was leaked,” he said.
The controversy intensified after the CM’s visit to the CID headquarters on October 21, where refreshments meant for him were wrongly served to his security detail. According to news agency PTI, the confusion started when an Inspector General (IG) asked for refreshments and delegated the task to a Sub-Inspector (SI), who then passed it on to an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a Superintendent. agent. The officers collected the sealed snack boxes and informed the SI, who was the only one who knew that they were meant for the chief minister. However, further confusion led to the snacks being taken to the mechanical transport (MT) section, where they were accidentally served to security personnel.
This incident did not go down well with the BJP as Jairam Thakur wondered why it was labeled as an ‘anti-government activity’.
Earlier in the day, Jairam Thakur said, “Nowadays, the way the government takes decisions in Himachal Pradesh has become a topic of discussion across the country as decisions are taken without thinking. Another topic discussed is that the samosas did that. didn’t reach where they should have, they got lost in the middle and the Prime Minister and the The Government of Himachal Pradesh felt that this is a very serious matter and that it should be investigated.”
