Priyanka Gandhi contests with help of Jamaat-e-Islami: Kerala CM
KOZHIKODE: Two days after Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said so UDF‘s Wayanad candidate Priyanka Gandhi contested with the support of Jamaat-e-Islami and has asked Congress to explain its stand on the issue, the grand old party is yet to respond.
Vijayan meant Welfare Party of India‘s (WPI is the political wing of Jamaat-e-Islami) announcement that it will support UDF in all three polls in the state, including Wayanad.
Tackling a campaign for LDF candidate Sathyan Mokeri of Edavanna, Vijayan said Jamaat-e-Islami was a group that did not attach any importance to India or its democratic system as it stood for ‘bringing the world under Islamic rule’.
The Kerala CM quoted J&K where he said Jamaat-e-Islami was following an extreme communal stance and was against elections. Vijayan alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami was supporting the BJP in the recent assembly elections in J&K. Extremist elements tried to exert their influence with the help of Jamaat-e-Islami, Vijayan added.
Earlier, Vijayan said in Kalpetta that no one should have any doubts about the Wayanad rehabilitation package as the government would implement the measures in a comprehensive manner.
The Kerala Chief Minister said the government will set up a township for landslide-affected families with all necessary communal facilities in a modern society. “The government will not leave anyone behind,” Vijayan added.
He said the state government was still hoping for central assistance for the rehabilitation of landslide victims and also recalled that the state had bad experiences in the past as the promised assistance was not provided then.
