Daniella Martinez, from the US, used TikTok to draw attention to the handbag-friendly solution she called ‘at-home Botox’.

According to the dark-haired beauty, who is willing to do ‘anything and everything to slow down aging’, she had come across a hack that recommended using flax seeds on the skin.

It is rich in fiber, antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E, which can help with hydration. Eating flax seeds can also reduce inflammation and protect against UV damage.

But a growing number of thrifty people on social media are also claiming that this wardrobe essential also tightens skin when applied in a gel-like consistency.

For the at-home remedy, which costs about 20 cents per use, the stunner used two tablespoons of flaxseed and boiled them in water for about 15 minutes.

When the time was up, she demonstrated inside the videoshe took a cheesecloth and ran the mixture through it.

“Just when you think it’s cool, you start squeezing as much as you can out of it – this is so satisfying.”

Now that the gel had cooled, Daniella applied the mixture to her face, where she let it work its magic for 30 to 45 minutes – ”and that was enough”.

Daniella raved about the amazing results and said: ”My skin almost looks like porcelain.

”It’s so sleek and so radiant.

Biggest beauty flaws

Fabulous’ Beauty Editor Tara Ledden has shared the do’s and don’ts when it comes to beauty.

“No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you don’t get the basics right, the rest is wasted.

“There aren’t many non-negotiables, but these are the biggest beauty flaws that sabotage your regimen.”

  • Not wearing SPF: Sun damage is the leading cause of premature skin aging, so if you want to keep your skin looking plump and radiant, sunscreen is essential.
  • To use expired products: At best they are ineffective and do not deliver the results they promise, at worst they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products varies: for example, mascara usually has a shelf life of 3 to 6 months, while lipstick lasts 9 to 18 months. Check the ‘POA’ symbol on the package (it looks like a jar and has a number inside that tells you how many months it is safe once opened. If you can’t remember when you opened your product, throw it away then away and start again, marking the month and year with a permanent marker on the package.
  • Not knowing your undertone: If you use makeup with the wrong undertone, it will never look natural no matter how many times you blend it! An easy trick to find out if you have a cool, warm, or neutral undertone is to check the veins on your wrist: if they appear blue, you have cool undertones, if they are green, you have warm ones, and if they have a be mixed. you have neutral.
  • Skip heat protectant: It may feel unnecessary, but just like sun damage to the skin, excessive heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So if you want shiny, healthy hair, or if you want to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is essential.
  • Not washing your face before going to bed: It’s that simple: If you don’t wash your face before you go to sleep, anything left on your skin during the day will remain on your skin even longer, clogging your pores and drying out the surface. Any skin care applied on top won’t be effective if there’s a layer of dirt underneath, and you’ll probably end up with dirty pillows too – yuck!

Someone else said: ‘Flax seeds are high in omega acids. You can also add flaxseed or use it alone.

Another couldn’t wait to try the home remedy, writing: ‘Omg I have flaxseed. I’m going here tomorrow.”

Not everyone was entirely convinced by the hack, however, with one skeptic saying: ‘You’re not supposed to boil the water as it will burn away the benefits.’

”You are not supposed to cook it, because then all the vitamins are lost. Just add warm water, put it in the fridge and voilà, ready to use,” agreed another.
