7 new movies and TV shows to stream this weekend (November 8) on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus and more
It’s that time of the week again. No matter how busy or relaxing the last five workdays have been for you, it’s time to sit back and watch tons of new movies and TV shows that have recently dropped on the world’s top streaming services.
There’s also plenty to watch on Netflix, with the return of popular shows Arcane And Outdoor benchesplus the debut of Netflix’s first Christmas movie of 2024 (yes, they come out earlier every year). However, if you’re not signed up to Netflix, we’re also getting gifts from three of its streaming rivals, so you’ll find something fun to watch before Monday rolls around. Enjoy! – Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter
Arcane season 2 (Netflix)
I love Arcane. Ask anyone I work with, or my family and friends, and they’ll all say there’s no bigger fan of the first Netflix series. League of Legends animated adaptation than me.
Almost exactly three years after the first season of one of Netflix’s best shows absolutely blew me away, the long-awaited and long-awaited debut of the sequel is just around the corner. Arcane season 2 is finally here, and I’ve never been happier about the return of one of my favorite shows of all time. Before you watch it, check out my Arcane Season 2 review to see me waxing lyrical about how utterly gorgeous, action-packed, melodramatically crushing, and epic it is. Be sure to visit our Arcane tag page too, because there’s a lot of exclusive content from my recent chat with co-creator Christian Linke that’s worth reading.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to watch season 2, act 1, aka the first three chapters, for the third time this week.

Outer Banks season 4 part 2 (Netflix)
We already know Outdoor benches has been renewed for season 5 and that this will be its final outing. Fortunately, we are not done with season 4 yet and the second part is finally here. You also undoubtedly silently cursed them after Episode 5’s shocking finale – indeed, if you think it’s cruel to end a two-part season on a cliffhanger, you’re not alone!
But don’t worry: you’ll get all the answers (we hope!) in Part 2, which contains five more episodes to devour. While we didn’t have to wait rather as long as there are some gaps between episodes (I’m still frustrated with the wait for Disconnection season 2, so to speak), you’ll be forgiven for wanting to cancel your weekend plans and find out what happens next. I don’t judge.

The Old Man season 2 (Disney Plus)
If you’re from the US, you’ve probably seen that The old man season 2 is already out on Hulu. For the rest of us who have been patiently waiting to see what the next installment of the thriller series has in store, we will finally be able to get started this weekend as the entire season was made available on Disney Plus on November 6.
Reviews on Rotten Tomatoes reveal that Season 2 doesn’t have the same high critical rating as Season 1, but that shouldn’t stop you from finding out what happens next to Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges). The first season earned a spot on our list of the best Hulu shows for its thrilling story and Bridges’ compelling performance, and there’s even talk of a third season, according to Variety. Will there be one last mission? We wouldn’t put it past Chase to take on another.

Meet Me Next Christmas (Netflix)
Christmas has certainly come early with one of November’s new Netflix movies Meet me next Christmas. The festive rom-com sees Layla (Christina Milian) racing through New York City in search of a ticket to a sold-out Pentatonix Christmas Eve concert to reconnect with the man of her dreams.
Milian is no stranger to Netflix’s romance section with films like Falling inn love And Taking refuge in love, so it’s bound to be a charming affair with her as the lead. While we wait and see if Meet me next Christmas is going to be one of the best Netflix movies, I can’t wait to kick off the holidays with this feel-good rom-com.

Citadel: Honey Bunny (Prime Video)
Some of the best Prime Video shows and best Prime Video moviesagain action packed, and Citadel: Honey Bunny has the potential to be part of our featured action hit series. Not only that, but it’s a spin-off of the regular show Citadelwhich my colleague Tom Power was not a fan of upon his debut in April 2023. The spin-off is also directly connected, as are the two main characters here – spoilers! – the parents of Chopra’s character Nadia, so expect a lot of backstory.
There are two separate timelines, alternating between 1992 and 2000, and begin with Bunny, a stuntman in films, recruiting a struggling actor Honey for a side job that puts her life in danger. The six-part series focuses on their relationship and Nadia’s early life, so it’s a must-watch if you need more Citadel in your life.

My old ass (Prime Video)
My old ass is the latest collaboration between LuckyChap and Amazon MGM Studios, and after the film’s standing ovation at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, I have high hopes for one of November’s new Prime Video films. The studios previously worked together on Salt burn and co-produce The Sims next film, so I’m curious to see how their latest project turned out, because it sounds like another wild trip.
No, really. The plot of this coming-of-age comedy centers on a mushroom trip, which is the catalyst for a science fiction scenario in which an 18-year-old Elliott (Maisy Stella) suddenly comes face to face with her 39-year-old… old future self (Aubrey Plaza). Expect plenty of revelations as you follow Elliott on this heartfelt journey of discovery as she prepares to leave her home. Be sure to check out our best Prime Video movie guide to see if it measures up.

The Day of the Jackal (Peacock)
The day of the Jackal, which is already appearing on Sky in Great Britain, is a modern reinterpretation of Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel of the same name. This cat-and-mouse thriller stars Eddie Redmayne (The theory of everything) stars as the steely assassin hired to kill a powerful tech mogul. MI6 agent Bianca (Lashana Lynch) tries to put an end to his killing spree – but can she stop him before it’s too late?
As Oscar-winning actor Redmayne and the captivating Lynching (No time to die) wasn’t enough to make me listen to this action-packed killer thriller, but the rave reviews certainly will. The standard wrote that The day of the Jackal is “slick, stylish and cinematically cool” and that “Redmayne is at her most enigmatic in the role of a cold killer in this breathless thriller series.” Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to watch this series – and I certainly accept that.
