Netas like Yogi Adityanath came in to sow discord: Sharad Pawar – Times of India
Pawar addressed rallies in Latur’s Udgir and Beed’s Parli and Ashti constituencies on Saturday. Earlier in the day, Pawar spoke to reporters in Nanded. Reacting to the slogan ‘Batenge to Katenge’, Sharad Pawar said, “Elections come and go, but no one should create division between castes and religions. Unfortunately, the BJP and its allies are indifferent to this responsibility.” He said politicians like Yogi Adityanath were brought to Maharashtra specifically for communal polarisation.”
Sharad Pawar also spoke about the internal disturbances in the NCP and stated that three individuals were fueling mistrust and weakening the party. “There were two or three key figures who worked to sow division and undermine confidence within the party and the community. Those who divided the party must be defeated in the coming elections,” he told the audience at the rally in Parli and urged voters to elect Rajesaheb Deshmukh. Parli is represented by Munde.
In Nanded, he criticized BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Chavan and accused him of aligning with the opposition’s ideologies due to political opportunism. “The Chavan family has held prominent positions in the Congress – from chief minister to defense minister. What else can be offered? People are aware of these opportunistic moves and will respond accordingly,” he said. Pawar contrasted with Shankarrao Chavan, who maintained his commitment to Congress principles even as he formed a separate faction.
In Udgir, Pawar highlighted the deteriorating condition of farmers under the current government. “For the past 10 to 12 years, the Narendra Modi government is still in power condition of the farmers has deteriorated. Despite efforts to achieve self-sufficiency, especially in the processing agricultural sectors, the current government’s policies have reversed much of that progress.” Pawar praised the late Vilasrao Deshmukh for promoting the industry in Latur, emphasizing that balanced growth in both agriculture and manufacturing were essential.
In Parli, Pawar’s speech was particularly sharp. Addressing a rally for NCP candidate Rajesaheb Deshmukh, he said, “It has been some time since I last visited Parli. Of late, lawlessness and ‘gundagiri’ have increased here. Beed once supported all our MLAs, but power has gone to our heads. of certain individuals too quickly, leading to hardship for the people. This must stop.” He added: “When power is acquired, it must be exercised responsibly and with humility. Some have lost sight of that.”
In Ashti, Pawar turned his attention to youth unemployment while rallying support for party candidate Mahboob Shaikh, the state youth president of NCP (SCP). “Unemployment has forced the youth of Beed to migrate for work in MIDCs across Maharashtra,” he said, criticizing Prime Minister Modi’s government for failing to deliver on employment promises. Pawar urged voters to support the MVA coalition to facilitate job creation and local growth.
