The Block billionaire buyer Adrian Portelli admits the show is rigged: ‘We hand-selected the auction order’

Adrian ‘Mr Lambo’ Portelli made a shocking admission on Monday about what goes on behind the scenes of The Block, admitting the auction had been rigged.

The 35-year-old billionaire businessman, who made history on Sunday night when he bought every Block home on Phillip Island for $15.03 million, told Nova’s Jase & Lauren that the auction order was predetermined.

‘We have hand-selected the auction order to ensure that the girls [Maddy and Charlotte Harry] went last. So we can let them win,” Portelli began.

The Harry sisters became The Block’s youngest ever auction winners, taking home an eye-watering $1.65 million profit in Sunday night’s nail-biting finale, with their renovated Phillip Island property selling for $3.5 million.

Portelli revealed that it was decided that their house would be the last to be auctioned, adding to the drama.

‘The girls thought it was important. They came in late. They were the underdogs, picked on and bullied.”

He said Marry and Charlotte had been informed in advance as to why their properties would be auctioned last, adding that the other participants were left in the dark.

“It was just the girls [who were in on the plan]. How good is that? They are the sweetest and most innocent and played the game the best.”

Maddy, 24, and Charlotte, 22, also took home an extra $100,000 for their monumental win in their four-bedroom, three-bathroom home, which had a reserve of $1.85 million.

‘We are so grateful, it’s a very surreal feeling. I’m so proud of both of us and how hard we worked,” Maddy said of their win.

Charlotte added: “It’s so special to end The Block on such a high note. We never thought it would turn out this way. I couldn’t have had this experience with anyone else but Maddy.’

Despite their eventful entry into the competition, they certainly impressed with their completed home as they secured an impressive bid.

It comes after Portelli revealed his shock plan for ‘Block Island’ after buying all five of the contestants’ homes on auction day.

He revealed that he will be giving away all the houses in a huge ‘resort giveaway’ through his LMCT+ lottery company.

‘Under new management! And as mayor of the city of Portelli, I would like to announce a world first. Let’s give away an FKN resort!’ Adrian captioned his post on Facebook.

‘1 Giveaway – 1 Prize – Winner gets the entire resort OR $8,000,000 tax-free cash immediately instead! Let the game begin.’

The announcement included a photo of Portelli posing next to one of his lavish cars in the Block complex he had just purchased.

He was all smiles as he leaned back against his vehicle, holding an LMCT+ banner with a “No Vacancy” sign artfully displayed in the image.

The Portelli ‘rewards club’ has made its billions by having its customers pay for different membership levels to receive a number of entries into luxury giveaways.

Portelli has been buying up Block homes and giving them away in his sweepstakes for the past three seasons.

He admitted to The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday morning that he doesn’t even like Phillip Island and that’s why he’s giving away all five properties, packaged as a ‘resort’, in the lottery.

The shocked admission came when host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson asked the entrepreneur: “So what are you going to do with all these houses, Adrian?”

“Well, I was thinking about starting my own resort, but I’m actually going to give them away to one of my clients,” Adrian replied.

Kyle Sandilands explained, “That’s what he does. Every time he buys these houses, he gives them away to one of his clients… It’s part of a competition [LMCT+].’

“We’re giving them away and someone can win,” Adrian said, before slamming the location where The Block was filmed this year.

‘I’m not a big fan of Phillip Island. It’s a bit of a drive for me. “I don’t feel like driving all that way,” he said.
