- Andor The official release date of Season 2 for Disney Plus was announced at D23 Brasil 2024
- The highly rated Star Wars show returns in April 2025
- It’s unclear if it will have a three-episode premiere like its predecessor
Get ready for the return of the best Star Wars show, y’all, because – finally – Andor season 2 has a release date.
The critically acclaimed Disney Plus series, whose second season will also be its last, will make its debut Tuesday April 22, 2025. In any case, that’s when the sci-fi spy thriller will make its big return in the US – it’ll launch in the UK and Australia a day later (April 23).
The release date for Andor‘s final installment was first revealed last Saturday (November 9) to attendees of the D23 Brasil Expo 2024. Minutes after the initial announcement was made, it was also more widely confirmed on several Star Wars social media accounts, including X/Twitter (see below).

It is unclear whether Andor Season 2, like its predecessor, will debut with a three-episode premiere. However, the final season of the series covers the four years before that Villain onewith four episodic trilogies – essentially three episodes each – focusing on a specific event in the Rebel Alliance’s nascent war with the Galactic Empire. Speaking to TechRadar ahead of the launch of Season 1, showrunner Tony Gilroy said fans can expect some “very sexy” time jumps as they follow Cassian Andor and his fellow rebels’ ongoing mission to overthrow their Imperial enemies.
“In the first year, it’s a story that takes place on a Friday, Saturday and a Sunday,” Gilroy teased. “Then we jump a year and set that story around seven days. Then we jump another year and I think that will be told in two weeks. The last block tells a story that takes place in the five days before Rogue One, so it’s very sexy from a storytelling perspective.”
Go rogue ahead of Star Wars Day
Andor fans, including myself, were disappointed when Disney confirmed that the final chapter of one of the best Disney Plus shows would not be released this year. At the end of 2023, Disney indeed revealed which Marvel and Star Wars series would appear on Disney Plus in 2024, but Andor season 2 was not included. So almost twelve months later, I’m thrilled that my favorite Star Wars show of all time (sorry, the Mandalorian) will return in five months at the time of writing.
As excited as I am, the release of season 2 in April 2025 feels like a missed opportunity. In recent years, it has been tradition for new Star Wars shows to debut on Star Wars Day. Also known as May 4, it’s the day when Star Wars fans celebrate all things related to Lucasfilm’s legendary science fiction franchise. The decision to release AndorThe second season two weeks earlier seems bizarre.
There’s a telling reason why Andor However, season 2 will not be released on May 4. Next year that date will fall on a Sunday, so it would be even stranger if Disney and Lucasfilm chose to release the new season of a highly anticipated series this weekend. Nevertheless, I still think it would have been smarter to launch closer to Star Wars Day, even if it was only a week later than the announced date, on April 29th.
Either way, there’s plenty for me to talk about leading up to release, as well as in and around the launch of Season 2, so stay tuned to TechRadar for more information. Andor-related news.
