Mike Tyson’s long-awaited return to the ring is just days away as the former world heavyweight champion prepares to take on Jake Paul.

Friday marks ‘Iron Mike’s’ first professional fight in 19 years and the 58-year-old has spent most of this year training hard in the gym for his return to the ring.

Spending more hours in the gym isn’t the only drastic change Tyson has made in preparation for the fight.

He also revealed that he drastically changed his diet and lifestyle ahead of the historic fight, eliminating sex and cannabis from his normal routine.

Tyson’s camp has offered plenty of insight into the 58-year-old’s training plan ahead of his fight against Paul.

Iron Mike often shares clips of his rigorous training on his social media platforms, showing off his impressive speed, incredible strength and imposing physique.

And Tyson himself shared what his training routine actually looks like.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Tyson explained what an average day entails for him ahead of the fight, revealing that he trains six hours a day with minimal breaks.

“I train extremely hard,” he told Kimmel.

‘I start at 11 o’clock [am] and maybe I’ll leave the gym at five o’clock [pm].

‘After I finish boxing, I get an hour’s massage and then I immediately start working on strength and conditioning.’

He told it too FOX News: ‘I train every day, I take it seriously. It’s a whole day [of training]the process takes all day.

‘I get up in the morning and do the road work, then I go to the gym at one o’clock and then I go to the strength and conditioning guy and then it all starts again.’

Another surprising factor that has played a crucial role in his preparation for the unlikely fight is drugs.

Tyson further confessed Impulsive that psilocybin mushrooms played an important role in his training.

Psilocybin is a psychedelic substance found in more than 200 different types of fungi, including magic mushrooms, liberty cap and azurescens.

“I have to take them with me when I train,” he said.

‘I train on mushrooms because I feel beautiful. It takes me to heaven, baby,” he told Jake Paul’s brother Logan.

However, Tyson did reveal that he had given up a particular drug ahead of his showdown with Paul, revealing that he has cut cannabis and sex out of his life in the lead-up to the fight.

Speaking about his decision to ban cannabis and sex from his regular routine on The Damon Elliott Show in late April, Tyson said: “For two and a half weeks I didn’t smoke,” he said.

“And I haven’t had sex in two and a half weeks.”

The move is a big step for the champion boxer once dubbed “Kid Dynamite,” as he is a marijuana enthusiast and even has his own line of cannabis+ products.

He further talked about his lifestyle change in an interview with Forbes Life published on April 26, 2024.

‘At the moment I live a disciplined life. It’s been six weeks since I haven’t gotten high or had sex.

“I haven’t done that since I was a little kid,” he said.

‘I hate that I can’t smoke, but I do it the way I like it.

“I hate that I can’t sleep with my wife, but I do it the way I like,” he added.

The 58-year-old is taking his professional comeback very seriously and that is no more evident than in his diet.

In 2010, the legendary boxer revealed that he had switched to a plant-based diet after retiring in 2005 after years of steaks, alcohol and drugs.

Narrate GQ Sports in 2019 he said: ‘I don’t eat anything that has a mother and a father. If you were created by a mother and a father, through any form of sexual intercourse, I will not eat you.

“So that means I only eat vegetables and stuff.”

But as he returns to the ring, Tyson has left his vegan lifestyle behind in favor of a meat-based one.

Regarding his decision to switch back to a meat-based diet, Tyson told Joe Rogan: “I quit [eating vegan food] because of the training and because of what I wanted my body to look like and the strength I wanted to possess.”
