- Sydney Miller, from Miami, Florida, was assigned a middle seat between a couple
- She offered them the chance to transition to be together, but they turned her down
- Her confession led to a heated conversation about traveling with your partner
A plane passenger has sparked a heated conversation about traveling with your partner after she revealed she was sandwiched between a couple on a recent flight because neither of them would give up their seats.
Sydney Miller, from Miami, Florida, recently went viral on TikTok after she shared how she ended up sitting between two lovers on a plane.
In a video shared on the platform, the Miami native explained she was assigned a middle seat, with one half of the couple sitting to her left in the window seat and the other half of her to her right in the aisle seat.
She said they initially asked her if she wanted to transfer and take the window so they could sit next to each other on the aisle and in the middle seats, but Sydney quickly shot them down.
Instead, she offered to switch to the aisle seat so they could sit near the window and in the middle, but they weren’t interested in that offer – which ended up leaving her between them for the entire three-hour flight to sit.

“I ended up in the middle seat surrounded by a couple who didn’t want to switch to sit next to each other because neither of them wanted the middle one and honestly I respect that,” Sydney wrote in an clamp which showed her sitting in her middle seat during the flight.
“I understand and respect that they put themselves first, but what do you think?” she asked in the caption.
In one follow-upShedding further light on the incident, Syndey added: “They asked if I wanted to switch to the window, but I hate the window so I said no.
“I said I wanted to move to the aisle, but they wouldn’t let me, so they moved to the window and aisle seats and I sat in the middle.”
Sydney said it too Newsweek that the ordeal occurred in October while she was traveling on an American Airlines flight from New York to Miami.
“I usually prefer the aisle so I can get to the bathroom easily,” she said.
She explained to the publication that the couple did not “interact” and “remain silent” throughout the entire flight, so despite her being between them, things never got awkward.
Viewers quickly took to the comments section of her first video, which has been viewed more than 2.5 million times, to share their thoughts on the topic – and many users admitted that they actually enjoy sitting apart from their partners when they fly.
