In one after on Mumsnet, the unnamed user told how a notification on her phone made her realize her husband was spying on her.

“My husband went abroad for three weeks for his brother’s wedding and left me at home with the kids. Our youngest is only 13 weeks old,” she explained.

A few days after her husband’s trip, the woman was returning from school when she received a tracker alert on her phone.

“[It said] An AirTag tracker was detected and it showed me on the map where I had been that morning,” she said.

The woman described feeling “very confused” by the warning because she had not used an AirTag.

However, she did remember that her husband had recently purchased some Apple products for his trip.

“I didn’t know what an Apple AirTag did until a few days ago, when my husband bought a pair to put in his suitcases before a trip,” she explained.

She concluded that he must have placed one of them in her car before he left.

“I know it’s 100% in my car because it was everywhere I went that morning, and when I pressed play sound I heard the beeping in the back of my car,” she said.

“He obviously hid it in there the day before he went on a trip, when he went to fill up my car with gas before he left.”

The mother said she was “angry” that her husband had not shared this information with her.

“If it was for safety reasons because he wasn’t home, surely he would have told me before putting it in?” she pointed out.

“He doesn’t know that I know, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t know either that my phone would detect it and give me an alert.

“I’m really angry about it because I know he hid a tracker in the back of my car.”

Mumsnet users shared their thoughts on the situation in the comments section.

How do AirTags work?

Apple designed the product to serve as a key finder and help customers find their personal items.

AirTags use Bluetooth to connect to nearby devices via Apple’s Find My network.

This sends the AirTag’s location to iCloud and it is then displayed on a map in the Find My app.

If you know the AirTag is somewhere nearby but can’t find it, you can use the app to make it beep.

“I’d have some fun with it, teach him a lesson. Terrible behavior from him,” one reader wrote.

“Put him on a bus and let him wonder,” another commenter suggested.

“You’re right, if it was for security he would have asked if you were interested in it,” a third person said.

“It’s not normal to secretly track and trace your partner. He doesn’t trust you for whatever reason.”

“I would be furious and seek legal advice,” said another Mumsnet user.
