Gwalior murder linked to Canada-based goon Arsh Dalla after arrest of two contract killers in Mohali | India News – Times of India
The alleged shooters were arrested by Punjab Police in another case on Sunday and later found to be linked to the Gwalior murder. “We are trying to get them into judicial custody here,” Gwalior SP Dharmvir Singh told TOI.
According to investigators, Navjot and Amalpreet had arrived in Gwalior on the morning of the murder and were identified through Aadhaar cards given to them at a hotel in Tekanpur, near Gwalior. The hit was paid for by Satpal Singh, the Canada-based brother of Gwalior’s Sukhwinder Singh, Gill’s maternal uncle whom he had shot dead in 2016. Satpal offered the supari to Dalla in Canada, police said.
Six months ago, Satpal and his parents had visited Gwalior from Canada when they learned that Gill had been paroled several times. It was at this point that Satpal decided to take revenge, police said. The shooters were told to empty an entire magazine into Gill’s chest, but the gun jammed and the shooter was able to fire three shots, killing Gill on the spot.
The gunmen then fled to Mohali, 600 km from Gwalior, in a luxury taxi hired from Canada. The taxi was tracked through toll registers and the payment was traced to Satpal, police said, adding that the taxi driver was detained to determine whether he was part of a conspiracy.
Intelligence officers said Arsh Dalla, who is allegedly linked to the banned Khalistan Tiger Force and operated terror modules for terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar (killed in June last year), was recently arrested in Ontario in connection with a shooting case. Dalla belongs to the ‘Khalistani terrorists’‘India wants to be extradited by Canada.
Dalla’s accomplices Navjot and Amalpreet, residents of Barnala, were arrested near Mohali on Sunday and two pistols were seized from them. They were arrested last month for the murder of Sikh activist Gurpreet Hari Nau in Faridkot, and during their interrogation, police realized that they had also committed the Gwalior murder.
“Investigations reveal that the accused also killed Jaswant Singh Gill in Gwalior on November 7, 2024 on the instructions of Arsh Dalla,” the Punjab DGP said. Gill’s shooting was captured on CCTV and police had clear footage of the gunmen, who had not bothered to wear masks.
