LJ Hooker was forced to apologize after a shocking mistake in the rental ad

A leading real estate agency has admitted to using AI to generate property listings after a rental property was advertised as being near two ‘excellent’ schools that did not exist.

LJ Hooker listed a four-bedroom house in Farley, in the Hunter region of NSW, on Domain and realestate.com.au on Friday, saying the property was close to ‘excellent educational institutions’.

“Families will appreciate being a short distance from several highly ranked schools, making the daily commute easy and stress-free,” the ad said.

It added that nearby schools include ‘Farley Primary School’: renowned for its nurturing environment and dedicated staff, this school provides a strong foundation for young learners;

The ad also said, “Farley High School: With a variety of programs and extracurricular activities, this school prepares students for future success.”

However, both are completely fictional.

After being contacted by Guardian AustraliaLJ Hooker Edensor Park branch director Patrick Huynh reportedly admitted that the company was using ChatGPT.

He said the non-existent schools were not picked up due to “human error”, adding: “All real estate agencies are using AI today.”
