I’m pregnant and voting on my baby’s name – people say my choices are ‘terrible’
A PREGNANT woman couldn’t help but be disappointed when her baby names were met with disapproval.
She shared a list of unique name options with voters.
Reddit user Today’s Secret Word shared the parents’ situation in a post.
“My girl name list is in between (I’m 9 months pregnant) and I need help choosing something unique,” the mom wrote.
“If you don’t like my choices, just keep it to yourself!”
Her selection of options includes Umbrella (pronounced Um-bri-ella), Berghandi (Burgundian but with Gandhi’s name), Poakly (a combination of poison ivy and periwinkle), Periwinkle, and Xaxbella.
Umbrella was the least popular with the public, while most people voted for Periwinkle.
In second place is Poakly, followed by Xaxbella and Berghandi in a shared third place.
However, critics were baffled by the potential names.
“The thing that speaks to me the most is ‘Umbrella,’” said one commentator.
“If you have to spell out ‘umbriella’, put it in brackets because you know “Those sounds are not spelled that way.”
“Okay? ‘I’m gonna name my kid Michael. (Pronounced ste-ven)'” added another.
“Ahem. I think you mean ‘pronounced steigh-vyghnne,'” a third joked.
Some had different opinions about which name was the worst.
“Umbrella is wild, but Poakly specifically to be a combination of Poison Oak “It suddenly made me stop,” said one commentator.
“For. What. Reason. I’m completely baffled by this and need to hear the motives behind it to soothe my soul.”
The last, unique name remained unexplained and I wanted to know more.
“There was no explanation written about Xaxbella, but I think she needed the most explanation,” they said.
“Everyone is answering with how to read it. By explanation I meant WHY lmfao. How did they even come up with Xaxbella.”
Some hoped that the Periwinkle would win the vote, if only for the sake of the baby.
“I hope she picks Periwinkle. Not good…but the rest are awful,” said one commenter.
“Voters who direct the tram to the line with one person,” joked another.
