Jharkhand elections: Congress releases poll manifesto, promises caste-based probe
NEW DELHI: The Congress party on Tuesday released its manifesto for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, promising 250 units of free electricity, caste census and completion of all pending issues. government appointments within a moving year.
The manifesto was unveiled by Bandhu Tirkeythe chairman of the party’s manifesto committee, with its main focus tribal rights and public welfare.
Key promises of the manifesto include a 1932 Khatiyan-based domicile policy and the implementation of a Religious code of Sarna for tribal communities.
“The manifesto promises free electricity up to 250 units for the poor, an increase from the current 200 units. Moreover, all vacant government posts will be filled within a year,” Tirkey said.
The manifesto was released just a day before the first phase of elections to 43 of Jharkhand’s 81 Assembly seats, signaling Congress’s commitment to immediate change if elected.
Highlighting the extensive public consultation undertaken by the manifesto committee, Tirkey said, “In recognition of the needs of the tribal people, we have conducted a Chaupal in each district to directly engage with the public. This manifesto is made for the common people and reflects their priorities.”
