BSNL launches live TV service with more than 500 TV channels in India
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced the launch of the first fiber-based intranet TV service in select regions in India. The service, called IFTV, was first introduced last month alongside the unveiling of the state telecommunications provider’s new logo and six other new facilities. It uses BSNL’s fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network to provide users with live TV services with clear images and pay TV.
Notably, this development comes after the operator also launched the national Wi-Fi roaming service that allows its customers to access high-speed internet at BSNL hotspots across the country, thereby minimizing their data costs.

The operator says that the data used for TV streaming is independent of their data packages and will not be deducted from the FTTH package. Instead, it offers unlimited data for streaming. The live TV service would be available exclusively to BSNL FTTH customers at no additional cost.
BNSL confirms that it will also provide support for popular OTT platforms and streaming apps such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix, YouTube and ZEE5. moreover, it will also offer games. However, the operator says its IFTV service is currently only compatible with Android TVs. Customers with TVs running Android 10 or higher can download the BSNL Live TV app from the Google Play Store.
To subscribe to BSNL’s IFTV service, customers can download and register for the BSNL Selfcare app from the Play Store.
This move builds on the introduction of the Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service earlier this year and is in line with its three key objectives: providing services securely, affordably and reliably.
