A man died after a house was set on fire in western Sydney.
Emergency services were called to Rowley Road in Guildford, 27 km west of the CBD of Sydney, just before 5 hours on Tuesday after reports of a fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW worked on extinguishing the fire, which caused major damage to the house.
Paramedics treated a man who was found in the house, but he died on the spot.
The man still has to be formally identified.
Five people who were in the house could escape the flames and it was not reported that they had sustained injuries.
A report will be drawn up for the coroner while the police are investigating the circumstances around the fire.
