Val Thorens in France has been named ‘World’s Best Ski Resort’ for 2024 by the World Ski Awards.
The prestigious award was earned following votes from ski industry professionals and ski consumers, who also nominated their favorite hotels, chalets and freestyle resorts.
Val Thorens, Europe’s highest ski resort at 2,300 meters (7,545 feet), is known for ‘setting the global standard for lift infrastructure, resort facilities and piste-side accommodation’.
The image of the exalted French resort is further burnished by a hotel there – Le Pashmina – which has won ‘World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel’.
The awards highlighted the ‘exquisite facilities and direct access to the ski slopes’.
Organizers said ‘Switzerland’s reputation as a world leader in the hospitality industry has been strengthened with wins in two key categories’ – W Verbier wins the ‘Best Ski Hotel in the World’ gong and Chalet Zermatt Peak in Zermatt claims ‘Best Ski Chalet in the World ‘.
Switzerland also claims victory in the ‘World’s Best Freestyle Resort’ category, with LAAX topping the podium.
Ski Dubai is hailed as the world’s best indoor ski resort.

In the newcomer categories, Japan’s MUWA Niseko is named ‘World’s Best New Ski Hotel’, while Méribel’s Chalet Harmony – ‘offering a rare blend of luxury, privacy and proximity to the slopes and resort centre’ – is named ‘World’s Best New Ski Hotel’. Ski chalet’.
