SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has seized the immovable properties of a top terror suspect arrested for the brutal murder of two migrant workers in Srinagar in February this year.
The accused, Adil Manzoor Langoois affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
An NIA statement on Thursday said that the weapon used in the crime was recovered along with ammunition from the said premises at Zaldagar in Srinagar, which was seized on Wednesday under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities Act ( prevention).
Langoo was arrested along with two others, Ahran Rasool Dar and Dawood, for killing two workers from Punjab – Amritpal Singh and Rohit Masih – in Srinagar’s Shalla Kadal area on February 7. The shooting was part of a conspiracy, led by their Pakistan-based handler Jahangir, to attack innocent civilians in J&K to spread terror, the NIA statement said.
While Jahangir is still at large, Langoo was taken into custody on February 12 and kept in Srinagar Central Jail. He was charged along with the other accused in August and is being tried under various sections of the IPC, UA(P)A and the Arms Act, the report said.
“TRF, which emerged as a proxy outfit of LeT in 2019, is also classified as a terrorist organization. It has been responsible for several attacks and killings of non-local civilians in Kashmir, including civilians belonging to religious minorities. The unit is also behind several attacks on Indian security forces, including local police officers,” the statement said.
