Congress cannot stand that OBC is Prime Minister like me: Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi contrasted the character of Mumbai with what he described as the nature of MVA. Mumbai was forward-looking and synonymous with development, and Mumbaikars were honest and hardworking, he said, but MVA was corrupt. He said that BJP and Mahayuti have seen a dream – to make Mumbai great. He said that to rid the city of connectivity issues, work on projects worth crores such as metro, airports, highways and bridges is being expedited.
“For decades, the Congress government at the Center and the state did not bother to plan ahead, and as a result, Mumbai started to decline. The signature of Congress is corruption, which has pushed the country backwards and created obstacles in the way of progress. They were against the Atal Setu as well as the Metro,” he said, adding that while Mahayuti talks about connecting people, Congress talks about “breaking” people.
Addressing a huge crowd, Modi said, “I say it with responsibility and humility, aapke sapne hi hamare sankalp hain (your dreams are our resolutions). Modi aapke sapnon ko jeeta hai, jagta hai unko pura karne ke liye (Modi lives your dreams, stays awake to fulfill them).”
“Give me an opportunity to serve Maharashtra again. To make your dreams come true, I need the Mahayuti government so that there are no obstacles,” he added.
Mumbai, he said, has suffered from terrorism for a long time and the people have not forgotten the wounds. “People would travel in fear on trains and buses, unsure if they will return home. In recent years there has been a sense of security. It was the same police, but a different government. Today there is Modi. You have to consider why acts of terrorism occurred regularly. There would be notices on abandoned bags and tiffins. Terrorist traffickers know that if they do anything, Modi will not let them go free, will even take them from the ends of the world,” he said.
He further said, “The Congress royal family hates Dalits and backward communities. They want to end the unity of SC, ST and OBC and trigger intra-communal fights. The unity of the SCs, STs and OBC will be destroyed by the Congress once it comes to power. It will take away your reservation. ‘Ek hain toh safe hain (You are safe if you are one).”
At Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Modi said the Congress cannot tolerate an OBC like him being the Prime Minister for the past decade. “The Congress felt that a reservation was against the country. It considered reservations as having merit. The mentality and agenda of the party remain unchanged,” he said.
In Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, he accused the Congress of deliberately keeping the poor in poverty to maintain political control over them.
